What is Clear Waters?

"Clear Waters" is a cheaply made daytime TV soap opera, set around the luxurious resort of the title! On screen, the tropical poolsides and exotic houses make it appear as if the show is filmed in Barbados, but actually it's all recorded in a car park in Weston Super-Mare.

The show has been screened for decades, and has hooked many viewers down the years. Only recently have ratings begun to decline as rumours abound that the show is losing its appeal. Or are the new bosses just axing too many popular characters?

What's it all about then?

"Clear Waters" is about the colourful characters that live in and around the resort. Viewers have been hooked over addictive storylines like the famous "Who killed Uncle Barney?" plot of the seventies, or the mystery of who blew up the McAllisters Wool Shop. On-screen drama frequently centres around who owns the mythical "Clear Waters" share certificates, giving control over the complex and the machinations of terrifying matriach millionairess Auntie Rosie, played by the show's oldest star, veteran actress Joan River.

Who are the main characters?

A few of the most popular characters past and present, are as follows:

Ethan Fox - Reliable, handsome star Ethan Fox (played by heart-throb Daniel Nelson) is nearing the end of his time on the show. In fact, something spectacular is planned for his final episode. But to what lengths will the makers of the show go to boost ratings for his finale?

Lucky Fox - glam icon and sister to Ethan, Lucky is forever battling her manipulative Auntie Rosie for control of the "Clear Waters" beauty salon. But is starlet Virginia Purseglove really as ditzy as her character Lucky, or does she have a more sinister agenda?

Auntie Rosie - Joan River has played wicked Auntie Rosie for thirty three seasons of the show. A fan favourite star, she is now tiring of the panto style the show's new producers have ushered in, and still longs for a well-respected film career. What's more, Rivers isn't afraid to say what she thinks about "Clear Waters" new sappy storylines and celebrity guests. But could this place her in the most unimaginable danger?

Rufus Sugar - Billionaire tycoon and ruthless owner of "Sugar Industries", Rufus is played by the charming Daryl French. But why has Daryl recently been behaving as oddly as his on-screen character? Has he discovered that the rosy apple of "Clear Waters" has a rotten core?

Uncle Barney - Crusty veteran actor Lionel Langton left the show in '74, when producers killed off his character in revenge for him wanting to do a film mid-season. Langton's been a recluse ever since, so why is there suddenly talk on-set of him making a dramatic return? And will even the "Clear Waters" plots stretch credibility by ressurecting him from the dead

The Bristow Family - Every soap has a family like the Bristows. Young Sally plays hockey for the Under 12's. Mum is always to be found in the kitchen of the family house, while Dad arrives home from a hard day at the office of their curtain business. But is there more to the Bristows than the Perfect Soap Family? And why doesn't anyone want to know them off-set?

Other mysterious happenings abound as the Doctor and his friends investigate the "Clear Waters" studios. Why is everyone in such a lather about the forthcoming "TV Gold" Soap Awards? What has upset youngest cast member and lovable tearaway Ant? And is Old Charlie the studio caretaker really the only broom sweeping things clean behind the cameras?

The Doctor, Nick and Rob find themselves facing dramatic revelations and dangerous cliffhangers... and a hidden threat far greater than an end-of-season ratings battle...
