First off, thanks to everyone who did us proud and downloaded episode one of MHT - we hope you're enjoying the story and are eager to hear what on Earth has happened to dear Rob!

Now this time round, as you're probably aware, we're offering the episodes online, rather than posting them as lovely CD sets. But that doesn't mean you can't have it on CD if you want it on CD! The relevant CD artwork will be uploaded for your enjoyment on October 4th, we encourage you to print it all out and keep PS Audio #4 on your shelf along with the previous adventures.

As for bonus content, we've gone to great effort to give you some entertaining extras - so over the next weeks, you'll be able to download the special documentary, a cast interview, trailers and more! Some will only be available online, so that's an extra incentive to visit the micro-site. But if you do wish to burn the story to disc, here's what your set should look like...

The Magic Cometh!
written Friday 14th September 2007 by Si Hunt

Firstly, apologies all for the lack of recent news updates. "Magical History Tour" has been in intensive post-production, with the psychadelic sounds of 1960's London (and the gritty flavour of ye olde pirate times) added to the recordings laid down by the cast some months ago. I'm pleased to be about to report that the four episodes are now finished, and all clock in at around the traditional Doctor Who 25-minute mark, although a few are a few minutes over! This is a very character based story, as we finish off something off a trilogy and round off the themes developed for our characters in "Echoes of the Protii" and "Soap of Fatal Death" (plus watch out for a few nods to "Keepsake" as well! And if you haven't heard that yet, get downloading!).

We've been migrating to a 'download' format recently, to enable more people to hear our efforts. However, with a recording looming for our NEXT story (Oh yes, it doesn't don't slow down for a moment!) the chance to premier "Magical History Tour" in full was too good to pass up. However, I'm still keen for the stories to be downloadable - it would great if everyone got to hear them together, an episode at a time, as a web community. Because they are YOUR audios after all! This didn't quite happen with "Keepsake", with lots of "I'll hear it later"'s. I hope you will all relish downloading "Magical" with vigour, and contribute your thoughts on each episode to the thread as they go up.

So! A compromise. The story will begin on-line, with Episode 1 being put onto the PS website on Saturday 22nd September. Subsequent episodes will be put on-line weekly, with goers to the next story recording getting the chance to be the first to hear the adventure in full just before the on-line debut of Episode 3. So check PS on Saturday 22nd September and download Episode 1! Remember that the TARDIS has just been destroyed and the Doctor is lost! "Magical History Tour" is the only place to find out what on Earth happened to Rob and Nick...

One last thing to note about "Magical" is that, being sixties flavoured, there is lots of great music from the era within the episodes, so listen out and sing along. We also have some new friends for our heroes, and one particuarly crafty new villain!

Also be sure to listen right 'til the end for a further taste of what's to come in our next audio adventure...

Back For More!
written Friday 29th June 2007 by Si Hunt

What date do you claim as the official 'launch date' of a new audio story? I've just finished downloading a hefty wodge of 20 or so files containing the first recorded material for "Magical History Tour", our new PS audio, captured in a special recording session last weekend. Then again, the ever-wonderful Trudi has already sent me her Linda McCow scenes, including a frankly wacky homage to a certain eighties TV advert...

And yet, surely the genesis of a story goes back even further than the recording. We've been living with the script for months and months, and then there are the gathering of various sound effects, old and new, which I'm glad to see I started tentitive work on some months back. And the music! Did you know this will be the first PS audio with a specially prepared score? Sort of! We're having a go with our own set of stings and cues, so that's a bit more of the project that we can claim as completely original. But I suppose the real 'genesis' is with the idea; where did that come from? Sitting here now, I can't honestly remember. I suppose the nice thing about ideas is that they simply grow from other ideas; so after our dramatic cliffhanger end of "Soap of Fatal Death" (the idea: let's do something we can't possibly get away with!) we already have the building blocks of our story, the problems already there to solve. Mix in some pirates and a 1960's theme, and the thing sort of writes itself!

From my perspective though, last night was Day One. When I opened up the first file and began to process, chop, filter and clean up the precious source material created by our wonderful actors. There's nothing more rewarding than taking a crackly, giggle-strewn recording of someone gamely performing some lines and turning it into the sound of fearful, anticipating time travellers exploring a squarking jungle. That's still a magical, hugely enjoyable task to me. As soon as that first scene started to take shape, that to me is the "we're off!" point.

So it seems an appropriate point to also welcome you to this story's micro site. Have a look around! Meet Brian, Emma and Ricky and remind yourself where we last left Nick (vanishing into history as the TARDIS exploded; you couldn't "see" that of course!) and Rob (seeing off the Celestial Toymaker in "Keepsake"). Above all, get ready for another manic bout of making Doctor Who!

Si.
