Companions Poll: The Fifth Doctor
-
I'll vote for the Aussie bird. ;)
-
Well it's certainly not Erimemememememememem who is one of the worst companions ever. Every BF story I heard with her, I hoped would be her last.
No, it's Tegan for me. When she's written well she's fabulous- yes she could be bolshy and whinge quite a lot, but she was capable, not phased by a lot of what went on around her when she's at her best (look at how she copes with the Mara stuff or in Frontios or much of Castrovalva).

It's a Janet Fielding landslide! (And that thoughts going to keep me warm tonight! :p)
-
Another vote for Tegan from me.

-
Turlough, despite being terribly underused half the time.
-
I probably should vote for Tegan, and I certainly liked her at the time, but with hindsight it does strike me that most of the time you wonder why she's electing to travel with the Doctor, although I can't deny that that made for a very effective departure scene, and indeed I like the way she was introduced in Logopolis. Plus she doesn't need my vote here!
However, I'm voting for Turlough on the basis that I thought it was a great idea to have a shifty, dangerous companion, although of course all the early promise of the Guardian trilogy soon gave way to very little indeed sadly.

I prefer Nyssa to Tegan most of the time but I've voted for Turlough. He just seems more interesting to me.

I went for Nyssa - underrated, underused, under-dressed eventually, and I think she was the one companion the Fifth Doctor had the most affection for.
-
I'm warming to Nyssa thanks to the BF audios, but it's got to be Tegan. She's a spunky gal and no mistake!
