I'm starting a new thread for this as I wanted to be able to discuss it freely. I have added a spoiler warning even though I don't actually know anything. In fact I barely know anything at all about this new series, I couldn't even tell you the name of the next episode!
Anyway, the Doctor mentioned having once had a brother. Could his brother still be alive? Could his 'brother' have a rather sinister chuckle?

although the new series has had at least one throwaway reference to The Doctor's family before... this may be the same, or it may have more significance.

This could be a spoiler, but I don't anything so don't blame me. And I'm really awful with spoilers. :) I heard somewhere that there was plans during the old series to make the Master the Doctor's brother. Sibling rivalry, one kid got all the love, I dunno. With the Master coming back, do you think the old plot could be coming into fruition?
The Doctor had a brother shortly before being thrown out of the monastery.
