PJ Harvey
Yeovile's finest singing and guitar playing force of musical nature! Oh yes.
There is no one in my record and CD collection better qualified to blast away a real pissed off day. In som eways, she makes it worse! I've been tempted to trash my room with her musical inspiration at certain times of the month.
She's like Tori Amos with the scare factor increased.
But she's very good. "Stories from the city, stories from the sea" is probably her most commercial album (and "This is love" is a great single, and "Big Exit" is an equally great album opener). Her earlier stuff might scare off most music fans (espeiclaly males). "Sheela-na-gig" and "Rid of me" don't get played much at weddings. I do think she's rather underated, although she has become a very recognisable cult chracter. She's certainly iconic, and no one quite looks like her.

I'm from Yeovil, but I don't know Polly Harvey.

I think you should make "Rid of me" your next album in the 1000 list.

Never been able to get into her early work. Everything else I like. Although Is This Desire? often just goes by me (A Perfect Day Elise excepted).
Dance Hall At Louse Point is also a bit of a classic.explodes
