    Default Life after Blue Peter

Anyone wonder what happens to Blue Peter presenters after they leave the show?
Some go on to have their own shows (John Noakes & Peter Duncan) some become minor tv presenters in their own right (Katie Hills) and some like Stuart Miles (that fresh faced blond lad!) do this

We saw him do his stand up on friday and he was pretty good. Mind you I'm sure he was always trying to put innuendoes into Blue Peter.

Some go on to successful presenting careers until they are falsely accused of rape, have a sex tape leaked and have their career demolished entirely in what some may construe as a total mockery of justice (why didn't the one person who could have said yay or nay about the rape accusation actually do so, and why is the other person in the sex tape made a celebrity off the back of it while he is reviled?).

Speaking of life after Blue Peter, a former DWM editor has jumped the famous blue ship...

Blue Peter editor leaves his job

Blue Peter editor Richard Marson has decided to step down two months after the show apologised for faking the results of a competition. He has been offered a role as an executive producer within the BBC Children's department working on independent projects. A BBC source confirmed Mr Marson was changing jobs and said the timing was "not entirely coincidental".

A technical problem led to a visiting child posing as a competition winner. Callers were asked to phone in and identify a mystery celebrity's shoes. More than 13,800 people entered, with calls costing 10p each, including 3.25p for the Unicef charity. However, an "unavoidable technical difficulty" meant producers were unable to access the callers' details and so found a stand-in. The winner could select a prize from a list of children's toys. The child they found was already in the studio because she had won a separate competition.

In March host Konnie Huq told viewers: "We'd like to say sorry to you because when this mistake happened, we let you down." At the time, BBC Children's controller Richard Deverell called the faking of the competition an "exceptional incident", and said the person responsible had acted "in a panic".

"jumped ship" or simply been offered a better job? Reports like this really annoy me. The phrase "months after the show apologised for faking the results of a competition" is designed to imply his departure was related, but you don't leave in shame two whole months after something which was hardly a major controversy anyway. It's quite clear from the rest of the article that he's moved onwards and upwards and there's nothing to suggest the two are related outside of this meanspirited report.

I know it is. And that seems copied from Teletext (or visa versa). They also quote a "BBC insider" as saying "the two events are not entirely coincidental".

I'm dissapointed in the BBC, they usually present relatively propaganda-free news reports.

It sounds like rhyming slang for something rude.

Konnie Huq was just interviewed on News 24 after officially announcing her departure (early next year) on today's Blue Peter:

It was all over last Sunday's papers. I look forward to seeing her on ITV's Glitterball.

How many years has she done? Is she the second-longest serving presenter after Noakes?

Will Blue Peter survive without Konnie?

She's beaten Noakes off hasn't she? So to speak.

I've never liked her much. She's no Katy Hill and she's no Yvette Fielding.

She takes Singleton this October. Think she'd need to say until next May to top Purves and the middle of 2010 to beat Noakes.

Katy Hill's shoulders were too manly.

I'll stop watching when Konnie goes! Even if she did call David Tennant "Christopher Eccleston" at a BBC party.
