    Default Previous actor/writers?

Okay, couldn't think of a good way of putting the question into a snappy subject heading. But in the latest Radio Times is says Mark Gatiss is only the third person ever to write for and appear in the series. Who were the other two? All I can think of is the mugshot sequence in Brain of Morbius, but that can't really count surely?

    Three come to mind:

Glyn Jones (wrote The Space Museum, acted in The Sontaran Experiment)

Victor Pemberton (wrote Fury from the Deep, acted in The Moonbase)

Derrick Sherwin (wrote The Mind Robber episode one, acted in Spearhead In Space)

Hmm, I guess they weren't counting Derrick Sherwin then.

I suspect they're being very literal, and meaning that those are the only three creditted as both actors and authors.

Being Radio Times, I suspect they've just done the basic minimum research based on credits alone. Derrick Sherwin is also credited as writing 'The Invasion' from Kit Pedler's storyline but isn't credited for his 'Spearhead' cameo.

I remember reading somewhere that Terrance Dicks was an extra in The Silurians and The Mind Of Evil - is that right?

Don't forget Kevin Clarke. He has been in the series three times - although admittedly only in the one wot he wrote.

Ah, but that's only because Tom Baker wasn't available.

I thought Peter Davison directed The Five Doctors? Plus several other eighties' stories?

Peter Purves wrote all his own lines for The Chase, probably! That would explain a lot!
One Day, I shall come back, Yes, I shall come back,
Until them, there must be no regrets, no tears, no anxieties, Just go forward in all your beliefs,
and prove to me that I am not mistaken in mine!
