Default What Are Your Ten Most Recommended Websites?

Which ten websites do you use the most or recommend, and why? Mine are:

    (1) Planet Skaro

Of course! The one stop shop for news, debate and amusing banners. And popcorn.

    (2) BBC News

Like a newspaper, except with just the news bits.

    (3) Wikipedia

Because you can look up ANYTHING just for fun. Contrary to rumour, it somehow manages to be user-updated AND accurate, simply because (i) it's policed like a bastard and (ii) every entry is so specific they'd be no point in e.g making up a scurrilously untrue fact about Suzanne Vega to hack off "Vega fandom". It also manages to be uncannily speedily updated. When Carol Lee-Scott dies, it'll know about it before lunchtime.

    (4) The Restoration Team Forum

When the Arc of Infinity DVD was announced the VERY FIRST question anyone asked was "is the music played by the accordian man going to be on an isolated soundtrack, and if not where can I buy it?". You just can't BUY entertainment like that.

    (5) Digital Spy Soap Page

Ruin all the soap storylines before you can see them! See caps of the alternative ending to "Coronation Street" where Tracey is found innocent! And track those "Neighbours" episode titles in full

    (6) The Vervoid

Nothing beats the thrill of the 42nd refresh and suddenly there's new colours and new columns! Wooo!

    (7) Popjustice

The last outpost for pop, now they've got rid of TOTP, Smash Hits and everything else. The Protractor of Doom! Unfeasible unending support for people like Annie and Mutya! "If he takes his top off and they vocoder the sh*t out of him, he could be my favourite pop star ever".

    (8) Hart and McCow's Blogs

I'm a regular viewer! I also used to pop into the Bus' diary until the unsettling photos of him in make-up and the end of updates.

    (9) Undented.com

It's a Tori Web Site! And one of those that reports every tiny bit of news in the world ever! Tori is mentioned in a small paragraph in "The Brisbane Mail"! Tori's sirius taping of "Father To Son" is on Youtube! Someone in Iceland has recorded an acoustic cover of "Jupiter"! Someone call the Church Elders!

    (10) Wentworth.co.uk

Scene-by-scene transcriptions of every episode of "Prisoner" ever. It's handy if you've forgotton where you are on those Prisoner marathons!

Please feel free to share your favourite ten websites. Or, if you like, four.

Hmm - there's a lot of those sites I hardly visit! Hart and McCow's blogs, what's that about?

    Here's 10 I look at regularly.

    10) www.b3ta.com
Not as good as a) it should be and b) it used to be, but occasionally the perenial home of funny photoshopping throws up a few classics. I even have 3-4 frontpages to my name (Bob McCow, of course).

    9) www.thevervoid.com
So many delights, from the best Captain Scarlet episode guide in the history of history, to Mr.Hunt's music box and 200 Who Reviews, to Ian Cragg's never-ending Target mission, The (sadly completed) Adventurer guide, everything Lissa does... it's a thing of wonder. It made me buy Kingdom Under The Sea on DVD for chrissakes!

    8) www.theregister.com
In amongst the myriad geek-tastic articles are some real gems. Continual updates make this a winner at work.

    7) www.nme.com
For news only. Horrible lay out, crappy reviews and utter guff aplenty. A disastrous site. But it tipped us off and allowed us to get Franz Ferdinand tickets for a superb gig.

    6) www.sfx.co.uk
Sci-fi news. Again, crappy opinions, but the layout of the site is nice.

    5) Photobucket
    More useful than interesting.

    4) Weblogs - including Si Hart, Si Hunt (Myspace), Kinggoose on livejournal (a superb site with video streams of cuddly toys reviewing Doctor Who. What a good idea!) TheDividingLine, Ali's weblog... and Neil Gaiman.

    3) www.ebay.co.uk
Just look at the price of that Tom Baker scarf! My god there's Blakes 7 money! Darrow as a five pound note! Wheel In Space hardback, 50 quid!

    2) www.x-entertainment.com
I used to go here but don't anymore. I don't know if it's still updated. But it's one of the best Transformers/He-man/80's crap obsessed sites on the net.

    1) Planet Skaro.
    Never heard of it.
Pity. I have no understanding of the word. It is not registered in my vocabulary bank. EXTERMINATE!

For a moment I thought x-entertainment.com might have been some kind of He-Man porn site.

    10) http://www.aintitcool.com/ - For their tv news mainly, though the film bits are interesting sometimes too. The rabid talkbacks are scary places though.

    9) http://www.b3ta.com/ - For the funny pics and stories. It's always a good way to waste half an hour or so.

    8) http://www.football365.co.uk/ - self explantatory really.

    7) http://whedonesque.com/ - For all my Buffy, Angel and Firefly needs.

    6) http://www.chortle.co.uk/ - For comedy news it's good, for reviews it's a bit poor. I also like visiting various comedian's blogs, like Adam Buxton's, Richard Herring's, Paul Foot's, etc.

    5) http://shinymedia.blogs.com/tvscoop/ - Fairly cool tv news and reviews site.

    4) www.ebay.co.uk - because it's lovely. Most of the time.

    3) Lots of sites I'm not allowed to link to. Mainly to do with rain. And little rivers. Er, anyway, I'll say no more.

    2) www.youtube.com - Because it shows how crazy the world is on a daily basis!

    1) PS - It's pretty much where I begin and end my day. And do stuff in the middle of it too.

Blimey, that was actually quite hard to do, a lot harder than I thought it'd be anyway. There are sites I like a lot but haven't listed like wiki and nme.com, but that's mainly as I go to them for information and not actually the pleasure of just randomly reading / seeing stuff. I do need to find some more cool sites though, especially considering my current situation.

    10) http://www.gillingham-mad.co.uk/
The best Gillingham FC site on the net, and part of the Football 365 sites.

    9) http://home.skysports.com/football/
Home for all your football info and a hell of a lot of unfounded rumour too.

    8) http://www.bbc.co.uk/whatson/tickets/
Get you tv studio audience tickets, they're great.

    7) http://community.sigames.com/eve/forums
The place for other sad tossers who like playing a football management game that takes months to complete.

    6) http://www.dwad.net/phpbb/
Home of the Dr Who Audio Dramas, probably the best fan audios being made.

    5) http://www.personal.leeds.ac.uk/~ecl6nb/OnTarget/
A great wealth of information on the Target novelisations, and the place I went to when I was doing the Target Cover Competition

    4) http://www.ipoints.co.uk/
A great reward site. It may seem like it takes an age to have enough points to get anything decent, but I get a lot of points each month and have got a lot of free dvd's by collecting ipoints over the last few years.

    3) http://www.amazon.co.uk
Although I often don't end up buying from Amazon, I do like their recommended items system, which often gives me hints on new thiungs to get.

    2) http://www.find-dvd.co.uk/index.htm
The best online site for price comparisons on dvd's, cd's and books that I've found. Thanks to Jonno for that one.

    1) Planet Skaro
No matter where else I go on the net, I always end up coming back to this one. What else is there to say about PS other than it's my online home.

What are my most used sites? Hmmm.

Well at the top there's Planet Skaro, which is a delightful forum and website combo. Quite my favourite place on the web.

Then I'm very fond of my friend's blogs: Gareth who instructs me on Library professionalism with stuffed toys and reviews Doctor Who with stuffed toys and is very amusing and Si Hunt of course too, who writes eloquently on the problems, stresses and joys of life. And Steve just so I can check he's not complaining about me!

Oh and of course Last FM, which is horribly addictive... see how your favourite bands are doing in their charts this week!

The RT site is a joy to read as fans mercilessly slam Time and the Rani whenever they're given the chance.

I like to get the latest news from Crowded House on their official and semi-official sites, and from their wonderful forum too... I don't want to miss the tour now, do I?

I also like to have a good look at Perfect Blend for all the gossip and "star" interviews from the world of Neighbours.

And sort of related to that there's hours of reading to be done looking behind the scenes of the worlds favourite Midlands Motel...

See, no time for anything dodgy... not me!

    Si xx

I've just got my handcuffs and my truncheon and that's enough.

I don't actually go to many places apart from here.
There's eBay of course, & Google, & 'Find DVD' that Paul mentioned, & the on-line dvd shops. Apart from that, i use Wiki occasionally, & i use Internet Banking, but that's about it.

I also forgot - www.moneysavingexpert.com and www.last.fm are absolutely essential!
