    Default Jekyll

starts next saturday the 16th and from the clips i've seen it seems to be a modern day adaption of the story set in prescent day It looks reasonably good and i'll certainly be giving it a try.

Of the old classic horror tales, it never captured my imagination like Dracula (especially) & Frankenstein did, but i think i might give this up to date version a trial run.

Did I invent this fact, or has this new serial of the Jekyll & Hyde story been written by Steven Moffat?

The big question is 'are they going to pronounce the main character's name correctly?'!!!

The name 'Jekyll' is a Scottish name that should be pronounced 'Jeekil'! As an anal pedant, it really winds me up when TV and movies get these things wrong!
One Day, I shall come back, Yes, I shall come back,
Until them, there must be no regrets, no tears, no anxieties, Just go forward in all your beliefs,
and prove to me that I am not mistaken in mine!

I think Tom Baker uses the Edinburgh pronunciation (and we may not have to wait long for a 'Planet of Evil' DVD feature to confirm that one!). When I was little and first encountered the name I decided that it was pronounced Jellykill.

I didn't watch it (too busy spurting all over Tiswas Reunited)... even though I started a thread about it last month! It's only on Page 2!

To be fair to Michelle Ryan, She was better than i expected, But the whole thing just didn't inspire me.
I didn't really know what to expect from it, but id've preferred something more traditional/fantastical, & not so typically mainstream. I suppose that's a no go for later Saturday night viewing these days, though. This was just boring & 'safe', IMO. The acting of both leads was the best thing about it.

    Hmmmm...

    It wasn't rubbish or fantastic.

I'm not sure what to make of it at all to be honest. In will certainly watch again to see how it develops. I thought Michelle Ryan was wonderful. I hardly recognised her to be honest. James Nesbit was also good. I'm not too sure though if I like the Hyde side if the character. I'm thinking it was a bit too comic book villain for me, with his smart quips and flash moves.

Have I ever mentioned that Steven Moffats dad was my headmaster?
