Default Doctor Who: Up Close In Manchester

Doctor Who has invaded Manchester's Museum of Science and Industry - open until November - with the Doctor Who Up Close Exhibition, and (with my friend Gem) I finally got round to making a visit earlier today, and it's great fun! Perhaps a little short (I always think that with exhibitions), but enjoyable nevertheless. Here's some of the pics I took...

First off, one of the blue midgets from 'The End Of The World'...

... followed by a bloke who I can't remember from the same episode. I think?

RUN! It's an Auton, bearing down with evil intent.

SLIP ME SOME SKIN! The Slitheen looked terrific...

... and Gem was struck with fear.

The remains of Big Ben, from the workshop for Mike Tucker no doubt!

"Too bloody right I wasn't alone!" The Eleventh Doctor meets The Face Of Boe.

    Some childish scribbles.

    Miaow! It's Sister Jatt. Probably.

    Kay Niiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiine!

    Rusty, but beautiful.

"Who's a clever little tin dog then, eh? Eh?"

Trigger from Only Fools and Horses.

    Not finished yet, sonny!

YOU WILL BE DELETED! Bloody gorgeous!

    Something Ood in the distance.

Really impressive mask, that. He's a sexy little fella.

"The beast and his armies will rise from the pit and make war against God. Enjoy the rest of the exhibition."

    JESUS H CORBETT that's a good mask.

    Santa Mask and Sycorax.

    "JU-DOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOON."

    "MY CHIIIIIIIIIIIIIILDREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEN!"

Bit of Alexandra Palace's transmitter, and Rose Tyler looking rather blank.

I had to resist the urge to say "I AM SEVENTY SIX YEARS OLD... AND I AM REBOOOOOOOORN!"

Of course, any exhibition wouldn't be complete without a Dalek!

Very eerie to stand in front of it.

Sadly, there wasn't a proper TARDIS prop in the exhibition (there was a seethrough one but not the real thing), but whilst wandering round the other parts of MSIM, we turned a corner and what did we spot but...

... the TARDIS! From 'Battlefield', by the look of the paint job.

I'd recommend it to anyone - fun fun fun!

Excellent pictures Pip - although I am sorry to inform you that the terrible TARDIS in the aforementioned terrible Battlefield is painted an even lighter blue than that!!!

Nice pictures Pip. I had to put up with the new TARDIS when I went to Cardiff. The 'too wide' one.

Fantastic stuff! The items fr4om series two and three look great.

I saw some the first series exhibits at Blackpool back in 2005. It's funny, perhaps we just take it for granted, and it seems like it's been around forever, but Series One now seems like a lifetime ago!

That looks must better than the Brighton one. Nearly worth a trip to Manchester. Tabby would love it.

They had an Ice Warrior by the door for years, and only recently it disappeared. I was quite sad about that, I always shook his hand on the way out.

Now, if I could only get someone to pay my train fare...
Pity. I have no understanding of the word. It is not registered in my vocabulary bank. EXTERMINATE!

Will have to try putting some of my pictures up shortly, remembering of course that you should always shoot monsters from low down. Or in my dad's case, nearly fall over K9 while trying to take a picture of me next to the Face of Boe.
