HUH!!! You were lucky, I remember BBC Wales scheduling that year, we didn't get the episodes on Saturdays, my sister used to come home from her friends and tell me what had happened in that weeks episode. It wasn't until part 4 of Death to the Daleks that I realised it was being shown on Sunday afternoons, and even then I couldn't see it properly as our TV was about to break down. I saw a very snowy Belall show the Dr. round the Exillon city.
The following week, for part one of Monster of Peladon, I saw my very first colour episode courtesy of a rented Rediffusion set.

Funnily enough, My Mum & Dad got their first colour tv during the week that 'Curse of Peladon' was on.
It was delivered on a Saturday afternoon, & i remember fretting about whether it would turn up in time for Who. Which it did. All i remember is being amazed at all the green. Arcturus - green! Ice Warriors - green! Alpha Centauri - very green!
Was Jon's jacket a green velvet in that one? I can't remember!

You and I have that in common then Wayne.
As for Pertwee's jacket being green that particular episode, I'm not really sure without checking out the vid, what really sticks out in my mind about colour was how everyone's eyes were so blue, especially in filmed American series like High Chapparall. Seemed to level out a bit after a while though.

It's a long story Jonno.
Dr. Who was not broadcast on Saturdays in Wales in 73/4, and it took me a few weeks to realise that it was on on a Sunday afternoon.
Our TV set at that time was on the verge of breaking down anyway and the picture was getting crappier by the week. My parents rented a Reddifusion set in time for the first episode of Monster of Peladon, which was the first episode I saw in colour, and only the second episode of that series, previous to that moment I'd only seen a very snowy final episode of Death to the Daleks. So, I had to wait for video to see Time Warrior, Invasion of the Dinosaurs and Death to the Daleks. Mind you, the memories I have of hot Sunday afternoons watching Planet of the Spiders equal those of winter Saturdays.

This bit about the CGI is interesting (from the link I was too lazy to post)....
There were loads of other little effects I've replaced, but to answer the big question - did I do a proper 'blowing up the castle' shot, well the answer is yes - in fact I specifically filmed a new shot for it which Rob then went to town on blowing it up and although its quite brief its extremely effective. I had the chance to show Barry Letts, Elisabeth Sladen and Terrance Dicks all the new CGI shots and they were all extremely pleased, in fact at the end of the viewing Barry turned to me told me he loved it then added.. Having seen the various 'Walking with Dinosaurs' programmes, I always though the Beeb could revamp 'Invasion..' easily enough. It's not like they have to re-create them, they must have a whole library of prehistoric critters by now. They might have something in the archives to replace the Skarasen too.

It is though, AIUI. Removing the old dinos from the film would be very difficult, they would need a 'clean' backdrop to put any new CGI over. Reading the article for the KtT suggests that this would be very difficult, as even a short 'new effect' for The Pirate Planet proved.
