    Default Series Two: Casting News

Loads of spoilers that I'm too lazy to post, but also a new piece of casting news...

    According to James Marsters Live:

    http://www.jamesmarsterslive.com/

"James is in town filming for the second series of UK sci-fi television favorite Torchwood.

He will be appearing as a guest star alongside leading actor John Barrowman in the BBC's adult spin-off of long-running television series Doctor Who.

Torchwood - an anagram of Doctor Who - is a secret task force that deals with alien encounters. John Barrowman plays mysterious multi-sexual time agent Captain Jack Harkness, who leads the Cardiff-based team. Series creator Russell T Davies, winner of the 2006 BAFTA Dennis Potter Award for Outstanding Writing for Television, has also written Casanova, Dr Who and Queer As Folk.

The episode will be broadcast in the UK by the BBC early next year"

Hurrah! Everybody's favourite Australian vampire from Buffy is back.

He's as old as Derek Jacobi, don't you know!
Pity. I have no understanding of the word. It is not registered in my vocabulary bank. EXTERMINATE!

Sounds like R.T.D is taking this 'Buffy' thing a bit far.

She's asleep at the moment, but Zel will be thrilled with that news when she finds out - she was really rather... fond, of Spike in Buffy & Angel. Hmm...

The Sun has reported that New Zealand-born actor Alan Dale will be appearing as a "baddie" in Torchwood's second series. Dale is best known for his roles in the Australian soap opera Neighbours and, more recently, the American comedy Ugly Betty.

I hope if he dies at the end of the episode, he knocks some satsumas over.

    It's also on ITV Teletext.

"Enuff with the frikkin p*ss-poor Neigbors rejects already!! Its already far too late for RTD to save his sinking ships of Touchcloth and Doctor Poo. Australian acotrs and Marrrrsterrrrssss won't save it. FFS!! Marsters is frikkin' older than my mum already!! It's all Emperor's New J Cloths, blah, blah, blah, spurt, spurt, foam, foam, w*nk, w*nk,...

They'd be better off with bloody Jim Dale!

I know jack diddly-squat about TV production or Alan Dale's nationality/career and Doctor Who is the only programme I've ever actually watched"

Alan Dale has been in loads of stuff since Neighbours, including Star Trek - Nemesis, Ugly Betty, CSI, NCIS, Lost and 24, and he was excellent! His hollywood career has been a surprise to most.

I think this casting is excellent and I'm looking forward to it!

James Marsters is a favourite of mine as well, I am giddy with excitement!

Have we got an official TX date for series two yet? I know the rumour is January but I've not heard anything official.
It seems like months ago we heard that filming had finished.

I wasn't expecting any more info until the BBC release their Winter/Spring season press pack at the start of December (last year's appeared on December 7th). Unless DWM mention it next week!?

    Hang on, Spike was Australian?

I'm sorry, but I've been watching that show since I was 6 years old, and in no way is Spike Australian...just in case in anyone said that...I have a cold.

Don't worry, MrMcCow got it wrong!

Spike was most definitely English, as evidenced not only by his accent but his use of various English words, especially minor swear words.
