Default Dame Shirl Grounded On Way Home

Bad weather forced Dame Shirley Bassey's helicopter to land in a school field in Surrey as she was flying home from the Glastonbury Festival.

The singer was on her way to a hotel in Bagshot when the pilot made the unscheduled stop at Collingwood College in Camberley.

College principal Jerry Oddie said appalling weather made the school field the best landing site on Sunday.

    Shirl: landed on a school

Caretakers had to let Dame Shirley out of the locked grounds at 2000 BST.

She then went to the home of a local resident who gave her a cup of tea and a chance to freshen up.
I've been lost in Bagshot. But anyway, imagine being that resident and having Dame Shirl knock on the door wanting a cup of tea and a biscuit. What would YOU have said to her?

Spend a little time with me!

I've just got my handcuffs and my truncheon and that's enough.

I'd have said "come in, milk? One lump or two? Sugar?"

I'd then have asked her what the gig was like & whether she enjoyed it or not & generally made small talk until she had to leave.

I bought her new album today!

I admired her customised DSB glittered wellies at the weekend. She knows.
