Default Moments of Magic in Season 3

Take a trip down memory lane.

    Think about Season 3.

What were your favourite moments? Which ones got you the most excited?

What was the best bit of the season for you?

Bear in mind that you can vote on these on the BBC website.

So just sit and think. What was the best macra of season 3?

There were many wonderful, wonderful moments. I mean, who can forget the bit where the Plasmavore got destroyed? Or when the sinister Mother Doomfinger introduced herself? What about when Dalek Sec appeared for the very first time that anyone had ever seen him to the surprise and delight of the nation?

I think it's been a fabulous season. I hope you agree with me!

Pity. I have no understanding of the word. It is not registered in my vocabulary bank. EXTERMINATE!

There is no such thing as Macra. I voted for the TARDIS motorway sequence in "The Runaway Bride".

Cause it was AWE-wait for it-SOME.

For me there were probably three highlights of Doctor Who this series. Well more than that, but these three really leap to mind.

    1) I think this has to be far and away the best - but the Tim sequence at the end of Family of Blood. I'm a bit of a history buff, and the First World War has been a recurrent theme. I think they managed to bring it to life in a very touching way for a whole generation who probably didn't know there'd been a World War in 1914. It's like Doctor Whos original Verity Lambert remit of educating the nation was brought into the present.

    2) The Doctors revenge on the Family of Blood, it's like we were walking into the pages of mythology. Chilling and brilliant.

    3) The Weeping Angels. Never seen a villain as terrifyingly portrayed since the Man With No Face in Sapphire and Steel (I had nightmares for years).

I think my favourite bits were:

    - The Judoon landing on the Moon, and the lovely squeaking sound their marker pens made
    - The terrifying Weeping Angels in "Blink"
    - The regeneration of the Master in "Utopia"

Everything in "Utopia" from the moment Jacobi got his fob watch out.

Aww! I forgot the Tim bit in Family of Blood for some reason. It had me crying like a girl! It was wonderful Partially because his death scene was signposted in Human Nature, but at the critical moment he survived. It was a heartwarming way to subvert my expectations, because I really thought he was doomed.

"My name is Richard Lazarus. I am 76 years old and I am REBORN!" was one of my favourite moments.

Oh, lots, I've sooo loved this year. Off the top of my head, though:

The butterfly exchange in "The Shakespeare Code" - like the 9th Doctor's Northern accent, it sort of addresses it, but with such humour. "Well, just, don't step on any butterflies." Brilliant.

The Doctor's first meeting with Mrs Jones - "I've heard so much about you... Your Martha's Mum - that's about it actually."

Every time Mark Gatiss says, "Doctor".

The ramping up of the excitement towards the end of "Utopia" as things just go utterly mental.

I voted for 'Dalek Sec', which, even though his look had been spoiled by the Radio Times cover, was still an exciting moment for me.

What about the moment we caught sight of Paul McGann in the book in "Human Nature"! That was a real "Cyberman Head in Dalek" type fan moment of "Yesssss!!"

It made me bounce up and down on the sofa in a way no woman ever could!!!

Well there were many plot resolutions that relied on fairy tale magic wands and fairy dust if that's what you mean.

    You were right first time.

I think there's been as many 'magic moments' as most Who series. I've really enjoyed it, and David T has come into his own.

Yes, but given that the winning one so far happens right at the end of the series, what was it all for? Some people eh?

Yeah, but the end of the season isn't what it used to be. It's now The End Of The Season with capitals and is a Big Event. It makes sense that it should be one of the highs of the year, even the biggest high of the year

Even though Jonno's recording went a bit funny, Sir Derek Bloody Jacobi saying 'I... Am... The Master...' was one of thsoe 'YEEEEEES!!!!!!!!' moments.

    Dare I say 'Squeeeeee!?'

And even though I didn't recognise them in Steve's pictures, the Macra may just have made me do a little wee.
