    Default Dame Tina Arena

We all know that P-Bal loves her. As surely everyone who's every been touched by her beautiful music does to.

Anyways, Dame Tina has announced that having been working SIX YEARS on a new studio album, her new English language release is going to be...

    A collection of cover versions.

For the love of Kylie, why oh why?! The woman is more than capable of writing her own fantastic songs, has been apparently demoing tracks since the release of Just Me, but decides the new release will be "a concept album of songs written or performed by women that conveyed similar meaning - heartfelt songs about love and loss, told from a woman’s perspective” including two Dusty Springfield tracks rumoured to be The Look Of Love and I Just Don't Know What To Do With Myself.

I can see in some respects that it'll be a good and canny way to try and crack the lucrative middle-aged market in the UK, but I was just hoping for a full new album of self-penned ditties.

And there's another French album on the wind.

    Woo-hoo.

    And popcorn.

This has an eerie ring of doom-laden familiarity about it.

It's just like what happened with Cyndi and Belinda Carlisle. Make proper albums with original songs like you used to you mad old fish wives!

Still there's the hope that "songs written or performed by women that conveyed similar meaning - heartfelt songs about love and loss, told from a woman’s perspective" includes "Cross My Broken Heart" by Sinitta, "Take Good Care of My Heart" by Michaela Strachan and "Not So Old" by Roberta Tovey...

Tis as we expected. I fear it will not be a party starter.

Two concert dates announced, both in Oz. She will be ours one day!

The cover is like someone took "True Blue" and drained all the zest out of it. I imagine the album sounds like that too. Damn these witch hags.

I assume this is accurate as it was posted on popjustice...

I Just Don't Know What to Do with Myself" (Burt Bacharach, Hal David)
"The Look of Love" (Bacharach, David)
    "So Far Away" (Carole King)
"I Only Want to Be with You" (Ivor Raymond, Mike Hawker)
"To Sir, with Love" (Don Black, Mark London)
"Theme from Mahogany (Do You Know Where You're Going To)" (Michael Masser, Gerald Goffin)
    "Love Hangover"(Marilyn McLeod, Pamela Sawyer)
"The Windmills of Your Mind" (Alan Bergman, Marilyn Bergman, Michel Legrand)
"The Man with the Child in His Eyes" (Kate Bush)
"Everybody Hurts" (Bill Berry, Peter Buck, Mike Mills, Michael Stipe)
    "Until" (Tina Arena)
"Woman" (Arena, Trina Harmon, Tyler Hayes
Not the "Woman" we want alas but I bet her Bush is amazing. At least there's some good songs on there...

She's flogging Woman to death if this is true. It's on Just Me, the live album, and the French translation is the title track to the album Un Autre Univers.

Some nice, if slightly grim, tunes. I think To Sir, With Love and Windmills Of Your Mind will be a hoot.

It's a loungey old collection of delights, going down a storm in Australia!

Dressed like Katie Melua, and accepting a platinum sales award. She's sold more than Dame Kylie Ann's newie has over there... AND had to add more teugh dates. Just to make things even more Arenalicious, she's also unveiled the title of her second full French album "Entends-tu le monde", which drops like a donkey's turd in the next couple of months!

Tiny Tina the people of Australia call her.

This is a fact, it's a thing you can't deny!

In 100% honesty, it's very rare to find a vocalist that can match up to the fabulous Dusty, and Dame Tina actually does.

And we all join in on the popcorn.

Is her "Both Sides Now" going to be the antithesis of Dolly's version of it? Dolly got out the fiddles and cranked up the jauntiness, Tina will slow it down and make it a suicide anthem.

    Si.

Tina has, bless her, being recording this in the sixties style in London - live in studio with a full orchestra.

Her slowed down I Only Wanna Be With You makes you wish she didn't.

Here comes the EPK of dreams!

Smell her understandably uptempo Call Me, slowed down Downtown and new version of the gorgeous Me Oh My! I'm moist.
