One for Pip. I've never heard this Pulp before. Probably because the film its from was rubbish.

Ah, 'Like A Friend'. One of my favourites from the Hardcore era, it was originally a b-side to 'A Little Soul'. There's two versions, the one you linked to is the film version, which has a long instrumental bit half way through, and the long slow bit just before the final "rock out". The other version, the album version, is MUCH better - it removes the long slow bit, which drags things down a little bit in my opinion. Oddly, the video for 'Like A Friend' wasn't included on the Hits DVD, but outtakes were.

Nice choice Paul, here's one in return:

Good live video of a song that could've been a great single.
Pulp made some really bad choices when it came to singles.

Ant, I say that we put aside our differences and show Madeley the error of his ways.

Anyway, here's a 1994 live version of 'Time' - not quite as good as the original studio version, but still amazing (and I was there - well, more or less!):

And, a year after the death of Syd Barrett, here's a (very strange!) video of one of his greatest compositions, 'Arnold Layne', the Floyd's first single:

Ah that's why I hadn't heard it before. I think I gave up buying singles around that time.

I agree apart from the His N Hers era when the singles were good but no one bought them. Pulp B -sides have always been great though and I really must make a compilation of them someday.
And I love The Night That Minnie Timperley Died!

I've been indulging in some music video nostalgia.
I've found a couple of things i've not seen since i was 14/15!

'2468 Motorway', & 'Sing if You're Glad to be Gay'. Tom Robinson Band.

I'm sure 'Glad To Be Gay' fades out before the last verse or two, but it's still a great song. I'm partly surprised they let it go out on mainstream tv. It wouldn't be an issue nowadays, but it was quite controversial in 1977.

    'Tank' & 'Curfew'. The Stranglers.

This is from a short lived pop show from 1978 called 'Revolver', which focussed on Punk/New Wave, & was introduced by Peter Cook. I never thought i'd see this again!

    'Denis'. Blondie.

Oh my! From TOTP 1978. Debbie Harry just wearing a shirt. Boy do i remember this!

I've heard that if there was a group playing on there that Cook really disliked, he'd deliberately try to distract their attention by holding up porn magazines in front of them.

I'll say nothing about this one... apart from to expect to see this song in Eurovision this year.
