Well, it's a non-story, really (it is The Sun, after all) but if there was any truth, he wouldn't be a bad choice, to be honest.

Media Guardian's Organ Grinder Blog has picked up the story:

I like something in the Sun's report - "our mole" makes a change from "an insider" and "Spokesman Said". Probably all bobbins, as usual though.

I actually quite like James Nesbitt, he's quirky and has a sense of humour - so i think he'd make quite a good Doctor.

I certainly don't have a problem with that. There are far worse candidates.

The Sun have changed tack reporting this nonsense haven't they? Only a few weeks ago they were busily reporting that the series was to be axed after series 4. What changed their mind?

Exactly, Steve! Everyone knows it's getting axed at the end of the next series.

Though it's interesting that if Ten-inch DID leave at the end of Series 4, then now is about the time they'd be casting around for a replacement.

And they WERE right about Daleks vs Cybermen.

Ah, but everyone knows that the Doctor isn't in The Magical History Tour, too!

Steven Moffat has destroyed it all by starting a thread on OG stating that "The James Nesbitt story is a total fabrication":

    The Sun told me lies!!

Oh but he hasn't denied he's taking over the show. Damn.

Ah, we never said he wasn't in it! Just that he's dead! Which of course, he is. He must be. No-one could survive an exploding TARDIS. Could they?

I would have been horrified by the casting of Nesbitt up until I saw Jekyll, not that I didn't like the actor but he always seemed to be playing the same roles - the slightly cheeky irish fella or the very moody and stressed irish fella. But his performance in Jekyll really impressed me, so I don't think it would be bad casting at all.

Having said all that, Jekyll has raised some doubts in my mind as to how good an idea it would be to have Moffatt as a show runner...

Everyone knows I'm going to be the Eleventh Doctor.

Or failing that, the Fifth PS Doctor.

I used to be an OG Doctor. I even had two sexy female companions and everything. I believe I used to trip up other things... my words, mainly...
