If it is true, it's not just the BBC licensing agreement for Blu Ray... it's the licensing agreement that everyone signs up to when they produce Blu Ray disks.

As I said, I'm not sure on whether or not that's true, but we shall see

The main reason the DVDs have taken as long as they have was because before the new series came along the sales figures didn't justify releasing more than one story every 2 months.
As it is I suspect they're only carrying on with monthly releases and increasing numbers of combined releases to get them all out before the 50th anniversary.
I'm pretty sure what Anthony has said about Blu Rays having to be in High Definition is correct, hence the comments that Spearhead might get such a release, but even if not I genuinely don't believe 2Entertain could possibly expect to get enough sales to justify re-releasing everything so soon.
And if they are planning such a blatantly daft move (as I accept stranger things have happened!) why haven't the Revisitations sets been simultaneously released as Blu Rays?

They've released other stuff that was originally made in SD on Blu-Ray, like Life On Mars. Those were upconverted, but I understand it would be possible to release upconversions of old Who on 1080i too.

Indeed, but I (and hopefully most sensible people who've bought the DVDs) certainly won't buy them!
Most good Blu Ray players come with the capability to upscale DVDs when playing them so we don't need already upscaled copies.
The Next Doctor was a special case as that had to accompany the other specials which it would have been stupid to buy on DVD (IMHO) and the upscaled version of that does look terrific except for the CGI giant transformer robot at the end which still looks pretty much as it did on transmission.

Well, yes - but it was still all released in HD. The point is that numerous people involved with the Who range at 2|E have already said that most old Who wouldn't look much better than it already does if upconverted, and thus it wouldn't be worth the money to do so.

Ok I need some help here, I am running out of space and am having a massive clear out. I have a pile of VHS videos I saved because they were signed by Anthony Ainely (who I have a secret crush on) but really, what use are they to me. They are just taking up space. I can't really do much with them. Even charity shops wont take them. I mean, it is just a signature. Am I a bad person for for throwing them out? What are the rules?

Some charity shops do still accept them, I believe, it's just a question of which. There's a set of videos on sale in one near me.
