The Green ET biscuits were vile Cola flavour as I remember. Yuck!
I liked Pacers- chewy minty sweets. They were really yummy and discontinued after a year or so in the early 80s.

    Si xx

I've just got my handcuffs and my truncheon and that's enough.

Ah yes! Pacers were white with green stripes, weren't they? I remember the advert with people eating them, and green stripes appearing on their clothes - such imagination!

Anyone remember Nutty bars? They were basically a load of peanuts glued together with toffee or caramel or something. They were lovely, but tough to eat!

As were the old style Creme Eggs if I remember. The chocolate was quite hard, and I actually pulled out a loose tooth eating one once! Also, they were definitely MUCH bigger in those days.

I miss Treats, too. There were toffee and peanut varieties, if I remember, the latter of which survives today as Peanut M&Ms - although it's not the same!

I also miss the original McCowan's Highland Toffee. It was gorgeous, and, again, near impossible to actually eat. I did have one the other week, but it's nowhere as nice, and it's smaller and chewier. Where's the fun in that!?

With the picture of a hairy highland cow on the front? Ooh, yes they were lovely.

And Bazooka Joe (as James mentions in his post above) were nice too.

I still yearn for Floral Gums (might be Floral Gems) which were ever so tiny jelly sweets that tasted of soap. Gorgeous stuff!

I used to love Star Bars. It was like peanut butter wrapped in toffee & then chocolate. Mmmmmmmmmm.

I vaguely remember Texan bars - did they have nougat in them? As for Star Bars, you can still get them in certain shops - just keep you eyes peeled!

Does anybody remember Ovaltine bars? They were lovely and malty, and seemed to be available for about a week in the very early eighties!

My favorite candy as a kid was possibly Pop Rocks (Space Dust in the UK). They are still available, I think. In case they weren't that popular it was a candy that you poured in your mouth and it popped and fizzled and felt weird. We used to have them and then chase them with Mr. Pibb or Dr. Pepper...

Another contender would have been Nerds.

Weren't they rebranded as Opal Mints for a while?

Yuk! I don't like the sound of Ovaltine bars or Opal Mints! They sound like experiments in badness to me.

Pop Rocks / Space Dust sounds very trippy. You just couldn't market that stuff today, I would think.

I also miss the original McCowan's Highland Toffee.
Hmm... McCowan's eh? You could be onto something there.
Pity. I have no understanding of the word. It is not registered in my vocabulary bank. EXTERMINATE!

It is still available. The greatest thing you can do is to fill your mouth with a whole packet of Space Dust and then, with your head tilted back, top it up with Diet Coke. It's hilarious!!!!!!

I'm aware of some better things that have been done with it, but they would have to be described in the Temple.

Has Jeff been getting his Pop Rocks off by rubbing Space Dust all over his winky?

I tried snorting a whole Sherbet Fountain yesterday.

...Funnily enough, I can't remember much of the following few hours.

According to eyewitness accounts, I spent a lot of that time shouting "Spuds Away!".

Make of that what you will.
