I don't think it does on vBulletin boards Si, well it doesn't on the other one I use. It always takes you to the post you have just made, I presume so you can check that it has posted how you want. I just click on the 'go to' button at the bottom.

    BTW, who is Timelordtim?

    Hi all!

Can someone tell me how to add a 'comment' thingy next to my avatar (i.e. as Si Hunt has with "Everyone loves a parade")?

    Ta!

Just found out there's apparently a limit on how many emoticons you can use, after spending 10mins writing out quite a long post, I had to do it all again.

"The following errors occurred when this message was submitted:
You have included 5 images in your message. You are limited to using 4 images so please go back and correct the problem and then continue again.

Images include use of smilies, the vB code [img] tag and HTML <img> tags. The use of these is all subject to them being enabled by the administrator."

Too many rules & regs round here already!

Ok. Sorry i sounded tetchy there. I know you guys have a lot of stuff to work out behind the scenes. You know how annoying it is when you lose a post.
I'll try harder to be patient!

Okay mate, I've discovered how to change it and I've set it to maximum of 10 images per post. I don't think anyone needs anymore than that.

I've also found I can't edit my own posts but that seems to be a feature of the Library computers I'm currently using, I've had the same problem on other Forums with those, so there's probably nothing anyone can do about that.

    Nice to be here anyway.
Did you click the link in the email it sent you? I found after I first registered that I appeared to be logged in and fully registered, but I don't think I had full priveleges until after I went to my email and clicked the link I was sent. I couldn't upload an avatar for instance.

Not really a teething problem, more just a comment, but the HOT TOPIC image does make it a litte bit more difficult to tell if there are new comments or not, since it never changes color. Just my opinion, but since it tells you how many views and posts each thread has anyway, I think it would be better to have the yellow and blue images for all threads...

FYI: Buzzcocks, as in Never Mind The, gets the naughty word filter.

The last two times I have used the "mark this forum read" option in the drop down list on forum tools, it has marked the entire site read instead of just the forum I wanted. This is very aggravating since I no longer know where new messages are.

Thw whole mark read process seems a bit of a cackhanded mess to me. If I double click on the icon showing their are messages in a forum and then go into another page and back out again, the icon lights back up showing unread messages. I have to double click and then refresh the page for it to stay gone.

That's just because your page doesn't refresh automatically. You will have to refresh the page after you have read a thread.

I'm used to all that because OG has the same Vbulletin software as here. The difference is I don't have problems with messages being marked read there like I have been here.

I just came back now after my computer got shut down because of a power out, and it appears that everything pretty much got marked read again. For instance the post above should have been new, but it wasn't.

I seem to be having problems with the mark read function.
It's marking read stuff I haven't even seen yet. Basically when I leave & then return it assumes I've read everything up until I leave & only has stuff as unread that was posted after I left. It's bloody frustrating because I'm losing out on reading a lot of new stuff.

For example, in the poll thread about opening presents, all the posts are marked as read but Trudi's last one but I've never even opened the thread before?

Tim, I've found an easy mistake to make is to accidentally Mark All Threads As Read from inside a forum.

Basically when in a form, you have the option to 'Mark This Forum Read' under Forum Tools, but also 'Mark Forums Read' under Quick Links. The latter will mark ALL the forums read, the former just the forum you are in. Are you accidentally using the latter instead of the former?

    Si.
