I can't wait...I just hope the slitheen don't annoy me too much though!

Well I enjoyed that, it was throwaway fun and a little substance-less, but it was an enjoyable enough plot, the slitheen once unmasked were cool, and the farting business didn't bother me for once which was a pleasant surprise.

Fantastic really, the 'first day at school' stuff wasn't as annoying as I thought it'd be. It doesn't have much sci-fi substance, but there's loads of emotional content in the relationships between the children and the parents. There's been a real effort to make the characters feel genuine, with real-life problems as well as farting space aliens.

It may not be the best TV show I've ever seen, but it was about 10,000,000 times better than the Walt Disney American bilge that was on just before it. As kids TV goes, Sarah Jane Adventures is pure gold.

That wasn't bad, that wasn't bad at all. In fact it was as good as the New Year story (Invasion of the Bane or whatever it was) and I enjoyed that. I'm not sure it'll stand up to repeated viewings too often (may be once a year or so) but if I were 10 years old I'd be happy with this.

I'm deliberately not posting anything about the story because I know not everyone has the ability to see CBBC & therefore haven't seen episode 2 yet.

Pretty good really, although I hope Maria's Dad isn't going to be shoehorned into every plot. Haven't seen part 2 yet. Nice continuity about the Slitheen using smell to hunt etc. And some education about transformers slipped in (though how they could avoid the standard classroom joke of someone shouting out 'Robots in Disguise' I don't know )
Only major downpoints - Maria's mum is going to wear thin very soon, and the title music is absolutely dire (even with its faux DW swooping noises).

I thoroughly enjoyed that. good clean fun with farting gags thrown in! Sladen was really rather good- nice to see her old frightened face back!

Yes, her character does grate rather. And I thought there was something 'Who'y' about the theme tune.

Our Virgin set top box allows us to use "catch up TV". Improbably we can watch episode 2 of Sarah Jane, but NOT episode 1.

This is the true crapness which is Virgin media at the moment, I'm giving serious thought to cancelling now.

Watched both parts this evening. All good fun, I thought, and I look forward to the subsequent episodes.

It seemed longer than I thought it would which was nice. Enjoyable overall though I do think Sarah came across as a bit dull. The Slitheen child was a good twist.

Sarah wasn't in it much! In fact I'd alarmingly forgotton all about her by the end of one long scene with the kids near the start. But that's probably because they are so good - child acting has come on so much in recent years; Maria is as convincing as any adult character, and Clyde and the Other One are good too. They were right to drop the chav.

The rest of it was entertaining, if predictable fare. Seeing the Slitheen breaking out and chasing our heroes about the school reminded me that they are possibly the New Series single most traditional Doctor Who monster. The fat child being a baby Slitheen was more of a surprise than it should have been; we didn't realise until just before it happened... a great twist.

This was good clean fun, and no-one watching should be surprised at the farting bits. It was a concept made for kids TV. My hope though is that we see and learn more about Sarah herself in the weeks to come.

Thought it was ok, although not quite as good as the pilot. Liked the surprise of the baby Slitheen, and the link to School Reunion. Enjoyable overall.

Bad points.....

The need to use DW (new series) style loud dreadful incidental music....in case RTD loses some viewers to "channel-hopping"....

The next story looks much better though, and spookier.

I completely forgot it was on! So I downloaded both parts this morning.

Thought it was great fun! Better than several episodes from the last series of Doctor Who!

I'm getting hold of the one from New Years Day now too, I'm intrigued to find out what's so special about that boy!

To be fair, I think this was so he had something in common with Maria so they could get along - she lives with her single Dad, him with his single Mum...

I too had a suspicion that the plotting was more effortless than a lot of Doctor Who! (especially RTD DW, natch).

I thought the characters were pretty fiendishly clever in their design. The way that Luke is an outsider at school, yet still the good guy, was a sneaky way of getting all oppressed young teenage kids (i.e most of them) to sympathise with him. All the girls will want to be Maria and feel sorry for Luke, all the boys will want to be as cool as him and will like the Slitheen.

Zel & Little Miss watched it last night, but taped it for me - so we all watched it this evening. I rather enjoyed it - and the next story looks good too!!

Finally got to see it today, and I thought it was very good indeed. In fact I felt it was quite mature at times for what is after all a kids program.

I feel though whoever wrote Marias mum must have met my wife though. Even the "I'll take the double duvet, you can manage with the single" hit nerve (hope thats not a second episode spoiler, watched them back-to-back, so a little confused on one where one ended and the other began).
