I thought it was quite clever how they did that, really. And besides, they'd never have been able to fit 'Doctor Who And The Silurians' below the logo without putting it on two lines or reducing the font size, both of which would have looked awful, IMO.

That didn't stop them on the VHS release, and it appeared twice in the on screen title sequence of all seven episodes.
I think it looks silly as it is.

Fitting 'Doctor Who And The Silurians' into the already too small section of the spine would look rubbish.

I've been good and ordered my copy via play on the affiliated link
On the great Silurian debate - I agree with those who see no need for repetition - makes sense!

I haven't ordered mine yet, but it doesn't bother me how they title The Silurians...I'm just quite happy to see two of my favourite Pertwees on dvd at last. It's not often that I buy these on their release, but this will be my first Doctor Who dvd of 2008.

As long as they haven't changed the title on the actual episodes, I wouldn't worry too much - after all, I'm pretty sure the 'Doctor Who And...' bit was done in error at the time (the director or somebody assumed that all stories were billed like that) so maybe the RT consider it a mistake.
Anybody brave enough to start such a rumour on OG?

It probably just transferred itself from the script to the relevant paperwork when it came to ordering the caption slides- director Timothy Combe and producer Barry Letts were both new on board so weren't necessarily to know that it was a mistake.
Apart from the fact that the main character is hardly if ever referred to as Doctor Who and the Silurians are Eocenes, it's not a bad title- the "and the" part is accurate.

Why is this set not cheap anywhere? History has made us fat and greedy and unwilling to accept anything less than 40% off.
A measly 28% doesn't cut it I'm afraid.
So - shops of Britain - pull your fingers out (unless they're doing something fun where they are) and give us an acceptable discount.Dennis, Francois, Melba and Smasher are competing to see who can wine and dine Lola Whitecastle and win the contract to write her memoirs. Can Dennis learn how to be charming? Can Francois concentrate on anything else when food is on the table? Will Smasher keep his temper under control?
If only the 28th century didn't keep popping up to get in Dennis's way...

The Sea Devils uses exactly the pictures you'd expect. The Silurian on ahem Doctor Who and the Silurians looks very camp. Warriors of the Deep looks ok.

They're not too bad, really, simple-yet-effective, although 'Warriors' is probably the wekest of the three (quite fitting, you might say!).
'The Sea Devils' is still a tad too purple for my liking.
