Soup of the Day: What's your favourite?
What's your favourite soup?
Well, what is it?
Classic Vegetable, Cream of Tomato, Chicken and Mushroom, Minestrone, Chicken Noodle, French Onion, Oxtail, Lentil, Potato & Leek ...
or something like Chicken & Sweetcorn, Hot and Sour, Lentil & Bacon, Mulligatawny, Pea & Ham, Alphabet, Tortilla, Cabbage, Highland Broth, Tom Yum, Calypso Bean, Coconut, Bird's Nest, Gazpacho (Pip will like that one), Butternut Squash, Royal Game, Duck Tomato & Red Pepper, Asparagus, Cream of Shrimp, Mock Turtle, Beef Noodle, Clam Chowder, Blue Cheese & Broccoli, Thai Pumpkin, Stilton and Kipper, Frankfurter Bohnensuppe, Carrot & Coriander, Ramen, Cucumber, Creamy Turnip with Paprika, Caribbean Black Bean or Haggis Broth!!??
Or maybe you prefer a nice big pot of homemade granny soup?
What about ****-a-Leekie? (bet that doesn't make it through)
It's time for an old-skool stylee/tragic "What's Your..." thread.
I've just had a bowl of lobster soup and it was very tasty!

The Loyd Grossman 4 Mushroom soup is delicious.
and for summer soups, Gazpacho is a big favourite!

I tried Gazpacho on holiday, but it wasn't a winner for me. Too gritty and cold. Although it is the only soup that's been popularised by Red Dwarf.
I'm sure Larry's mum's soup is the best! Wild mushroom soup is very tasty, as is Tomato and Basil. Richard Beeby makes a mean tomato and basil soupPity. I have no understanding of the word. It is not registered in my vocabulary bank. EXTERMINATE!

Lobster Soup? I bet it came from Lidl.
Cream of Mushroom for me.
Even if it does smell a bit like something that's been dead too long.

Tomato soup is my favourite. But it has to be Heinz! Like Ant i'm partial to it when i'm ill, or when i have a hangover. (That'll be today then!)
They used to do a nice Tomato & Onion soup for a while. I really liked it, but it obviously wasn't popular because they stopped doing it.
I also have a tin of Mediteranean(sp?) Tomato & Bacon soup in my cupboard, & i'm also quite fond of Heinz Mulligatawny soup, & i occasionaly get Heinz Chicken or Chicken & Mushroom soup.
Vegetable soup is dull dull dull!, & minestrone is horrible!

I can't stand soup, i've always sort of hated it.
I can manage tomato, carrot or onion soups-but anything else and i wont even consider taking them they just turn my stomach.

I'm very fond of Leek and Potato, Cream of Chicken and any of those Heinz Big Soups.
I make soups at home during the winter. Its time I did some more of them and tried a few different types I think. Anyone got any ideas what I should try? Any recommendations?

Well, my favourite is home-made french onion, but I do like a spicy muligatawny, oxtail, a subtle lobster bisque, and blue cheese, bacon and broccoli is nice too.

Thanks Ant. It is a labour of love my French onion soup- I take several hours over it, caramelising some of the onions, roasting others, adding them at different stages of the cooking, allowing it to simmer for a long time- so it doesn't get made that often.
But it is certainly one of my pulling dishes.

sounds delicious!
I've noticed that you've have a habit of making food that I wouldn't normally be too bothered about (one way or the other) sound incredibly appealing!
on that note, I'm hungry! but I've missed lunch already

Can't really be doing with Veg soup... like Wayne I find it incredibly dull!
erm... Heinz do a really nice Tomato and Basil soup thats a big favourite of mine!
But homemade soup of the mushroom or tomato kind have to win for me!
and I can't eat too much "cream of..." cos the cream tends to make me feel a bit ill...

I like almost all soups, it's one of my favourite meals. French Onion is one of my faourite flavours but it doesn't like me too much.
Tomato is my absolute favourite, but I do like those pasta ones.

though when I do get a tin of soup I insist on it being Heinz as i'm not to keen on all the other brands.

I was gonna mention those Heinz Big Soups, I like something with big chunks of veg in it.
My mother used to make good old fashioned Oxtail soup, I remember her, more than once bringing home from the butchers an ox tail.
For tin soup though, like a few of us here, I like tomato soup (Heinz) and am quite partial to Leek and Potato.
