Sorted out another Christmas present out, got my sister the complete Alien Quadrilogy box set (she loves those films). Also treated myself to the final three One Foot In The Grave DVDs I need to complete my collection (series 4-5 and the Christmas Specials). I know there's the complete box set for £35, but when you add the prices I paid for the series I already have, I've paid about £35 anyway, so I don't feel like I've missed out (apart from a cheap cardboard box obviously).

With the 15% discount, it was £30.56 altogether, which is pretty good!

Using the HMV code too, I've just bought the Alien Quadrilogy box set also, along with The Day Of The Triffids and Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy on DVD, plus the Kaiser Chiefs' second album, all for just under thirty quids!

The great thing about Halloween is the fact that the day after all the stores sell off their mini chocolate bars and things for half price. So $25 later I now have far too much of the stuff at home

Britney's "Blackout" plopped through the letterbox today. Only ordered it two days ago so it's good to know the postal service is back to normal!

    You monkey.

Something unexpected came on Friday - the Hanson "membership pack", only ten months after I'd paid for it. It turns out to be a plastic card and a CD in an envelope containing ten rare tracks. Is it worth £30? The jury's genuinely out. £30 is a lot, but then a disc full of Hanson rarities is quite valuable. Hmmm.

I found this at a car boot sale today:

I used to love it as a kid, though haven't seen it in about 20 years now...but I'm hoping it'll still be a fun watch.

Yeah...it probably is! But it was one of those videos I rented out loads when I was a kid, I'm not expecting to much of it, but you never know it might be good. It's a sort of x-men rip off btw, with a group of teens with freaky powers brought together to fight evil, but that's all I remember about it.

Edit: Blimey, I've just looked it up on imdb, and it has a young Courtney Cox in it. Though I'm not sure if thats a good thing or not...

Ah! I think I remember reading about that in TV Zone or one of those magazines a few years back - was it a TV pilot or something?

Misfits of Science was a short-lived American superhero fantasy television series that aired on NBC Fridays at 8 PM EST from October, 1985 to February, 1986. It featured a cast of super-powered humans and their madcap adventures. A double-length pilot and 15 additional episodes were created; all episodes but one were broadcast in the United States during its original run.
Hmm, reminds me of something familiar that's currently big on the telly, but I can't quite put my finger on it...

I bought a half price purple rolled up sleevey shirt from Topman. The fact that the shop was playing "Holler" by the Girls named Spice may have infuenced this purchase.

That is genuinely spooky, for I fingered a purple top in there on Saturday. No Spice tho, although I did an acapella Headlines down the stairs. Our local shopping centre played Goodnight Kiss the other day. Strange, but true.

Anyway, one did buy much jaunty sockage and another waistcoat. Innit.

Geri album tracks are an odd re-occurence in shops. Peterborough's H&M was rocking to a Passion ballad a couple of years ago.

I've finally pulled my fingers out and pre-ordered the Spice Greatest Hits Boxed Set thingy and the Headlice single and Kylie's X with Bonus Pointless DVD.

A lot of money gone on a lot of things I don't really need and could have just got the cheaper versions.

    Minge twinge.

This turned out to be really fun stuff. I mean, some of it was really cheesey and it suffered from eighties-itis, with lots of bad haircuts and music, but it was silly in a very knowing kind of way and the action scenes and dialogue were really fun.

It's worth seeing just for one scene which features the gang in a ice cream van escaping from a military base despite being outnumbered by about 1000 to 1. Whilst there's a blue iceman in the freezer. And Kevin "Predator" Peter Hall is completely naked. Infront of Courtney Cox. And Dean Martin's son.

Yeah, 80's tv doesn't get much better than that.

    Edit:

Hmm, reminds me of something familiar that's currently big on the telly, but I can't quite put my finger on it...
Madly enough I just found a site devoted to the Misfits, and it turns out that Tim Kring, the creator of Heroes, did actually write some of the tv episodes of Misfits of Science. So, erm, yeah, it must have 'influenced' him at the very least!
