    Default Mobile phone "push message"

Has anyone else had a "push message" on their mobile, or know what it is? My wife got a text message tonight, but rather than displaying the number of the person sending the text, displayed a series of numbers and slashes followed by the words "push message". A friend said it may be a mobile virus and advised to delete it (which she did). But does anyone know what this is? Could the virus suggestion be right enough, or are we over-reacting and just reading something sinister into something quite innocent which we just haven't experienced before?

If it isn't a virus, it sounds to me like a pile of gobbledegook which, if you weren't expecting it, you're best off deleting anyway.

Most mobiles now have a Push Inbox. Basically these are browser messages usually concerned with marketing of somesort (or occasionally offers from your service provider), and usually take you to a mobile internet page.

Don't worry it's not a virus, but usually best deleted.
