In addition, the original A/B roll camera negatives of the location film sequences that make up so much of the story's running time have been newly transferred on the Spirit telecine and re-instated into both.

That's going to be a great release- just what it deserves!

The Ties that Bind Us (dur. 25' 55") - Brendan Sheppard's featurette takes a look at the subtle (and not so subtle!) links to the show's past and future contained within the story of 'The Five Doctors'. Narrated by Paul McGann.
Nice touch. Glad to see Mark Strickson's first DVD commentary on the cards too - this DVD looks worth buying on release!

This might be the first DVD I'll watch ASAP with commentary.

I'm glad this is such a good package because I'd never bought the original DVD release.

Moody arse Roberts has posted a few rollover comparisons:

The Shada one is very impressive.

There seems to be some loss of detail with the rocks on the Raston Robot pic.
But I agree, the Shada pic is excellent. I wonder how good they could make the rest of the story?

I think the 'detail' on the Raston pic is in fact a combination of film grain and too much contrast - personally I think the new pic is much better!

Looking at those extras in detail, I tell you what, this is going to be one hell of a package! I'm really looking forward to this one.

Okay, we have to take a stand here. There's no way the "before" shot of "The Five Doctors" in any way represents the state of all our current copies of the stories. It looks about 50% more washed out, and it's blurred. They're just trying to make the cleaned up frame even more impressive, and they don't fool me for a moment!

It's not much worse than the dark days of "Remembrance", "Spearhead" and "Robots".

So that's the Sendit preview, is it? Everyone's into making 'fan' covers these days! But Simon speaks the truth, it's a lot like the cover for Doctor Who: The TV Moavie.
Pity. I have no understanding of the word. It is not registered in my vocabulary bank. EXTERMINATE!

Every time something like this crops up, I'm more and more amazed that Victor Lewis-Smith got away with it.

I think he cleverly didn't ask permission because he knew his shows would be impossible to clear for video release anyway.

There is a certain something in knowing that the most humourless agent in England was Britain's best loved comedian's brother.
Dennis, Francois, Melba and Smasher are competing to see who can wine and dine Lola Whitecastle and win the contract to write her memoirs. Can Dennis learn how to be charming? Can Francois concentrate on anything else when food is on the table? Will Smasher keep his temper under control?

If only the 28th century didn't keep popping up to get in Dennis's way...
