It's a nice image, but it works better on the slipcase - it looks a bit too squashed there, and like Si, I'm disappointed they didn't have a different, more colourful picture for the inner sleeve.

But, at the end of the day, this will be a great DVD, even if it comes wrapped up in one of Carol Ann Ford's purple tights.

Look away now if you don't want to be spoiled, as this DVD also houses a truly awesome hidden DVD Easter Egg in the form on a Commentary featuring New Series Producer; Phil Collinson, The 10th Doctor; David Tennant and New Series Writer; Helen Raynor. Phil and David in particular are a joy to listen to as they inject their perspectives as fans back when the episode originally aired. It's fresh, funny and different to any of the Classic Doctor Who DVD commentaries to date.

    Excellent

It does look like a cracking release. Nice to get so much Troughton interview footage, too.

This continues to be the most anticipated Doctor Who release for me since "More Than Thirty Years in the TARDIS". I have two reservations before viewing it; namely the title "(Not So) Special Effects" suggests ridicule of this story (which actually has better special effects than every other Davison story) and I hope this isn't how the tone of the discs come over. Also the 'best easter egg ever' sounds to me of zero interest! If I wanted a Tenant commentary I'd buy the pricey New Series box sets (but I don't, so I don't). I was hoping for those brilliant Youtube spoofs, but I understand they might be a nightmare to clear.

I'm with you there Si. This is one DVD that I'll be dropping everything else to watch, and watch it all! Including the 'fan' commentary.

Steve Roberts has already stated elsewhere that this isn't a take the piss feature, but rather showing what great work they did with bugger all budget, and gaffer tape. Or something.

I'm with you there, utterly pointless imo. Some people over on OG are already getting carried away, suggesting the RT should "leak" this news to the tabloids, as they think this news will magicly cause it to be the biggest selling classic dvd ever. DW fan reactions really are beyong belief sometimes!

I think the super secret extra bonus freebie hidden three-for-two commentary sounds fantastic and unless you get a faulty disc no one need ever be forced to listen to it. Now if only John Barrowman was on it as well - that would be even more fab.
Dennis, Francois, Melba and Smasher are competing to see who can wine and dine Lola Whitecastle and win the contract to write her memoirs. Can Dennis learn how to be charming? Can Francois concentrate on anything else when food is on the table? Will Smasher keep his temper under control?

If only the 28th century didn't keep popping up to get in Dennis's way...

Shame RTD isn't on it too but it'll be the first thing I go to when I get the discs!

Some of the reactions on OG are INCREDIBLY bitter.
