At the weekend I watched Bob the Builder: A Christmas to Remember. Had a great cast including Stephen Thompkinson, Noddy Holder and Elton John and was really good fun.
I should add that Tabby and William watched it with me.

Last night, I watched a variety of things. A new update for the PS3 this week, now allows it to play the DivX video format, so I've found a couple of download sites with some great stuff. Watched a new(ish) episode of South Park (the Tourette's one), an episode of the animated Star Trek series (which I probably haven't seen for more than 20 years!), and an array of Kate Bush vids (of which I'll post details elsewhere). All without having to leave the comfort of my sofa!
Also watched Ep.5 of 24 S6.“If my sons did not want wars, there would be none.” - Gutle Schnaper Rothschild

Last night I watched Carry On Abroad and Carry On At Your Convenience.
Not seen either for ages, and enjoyed them very much, particularly Abroad... "Please, Mrs Plunkett, you're squashing my itinerary!"

I went to the flicks last night to see the post-apocalyptic 'I Am Legend', the new movie starring Will Smith, and, I have to say, it was excellent. Engrossing, scary, thought-provoking and well made, and Smith, whom I'm not a big fan of, was really very good. If I were to nitpcik, I thought the ending was a little rushed, and it was somewhat over-reliant on CGI (I've decided I really wish there was less CGI in movies, and more 'real' action), but I would highly recommend it.

The only trouble with movies with Will Smith in, is Will Smith.
He should replaced in all his movies by Denzil Washington.

Fake Baby - currently on Channel 4 - a programme about women that pay thousands of pounds for pretend babies
Just seems really sad - why not just have a real pet?

Yeah, I watched that as Jody was telling me about it last week. It showed the women in a sympathetic light, but I couldn't help but think that most would benefit from some psychiatric help.

I spent yesterday in Norwich & got back at 22:45 to find Angela watching this. I can't help but agree with you Alex. These women need help. They tried to excuse their behaviour by saying that grown men have train sets & such hobbies so why can't these women? But the difference is that men don't take their train sets shopping & out in car seats!

We watched that as I have been slightly fascinated by Reborns for a while. They're fantastically detailed and as works of art, absolutely brilliant. However some of the women that buy them probably do need help of some kind but if they get that comfort from a doll then why not?
The blonde woman worried me most though. She claimed she was ok cos she knew they were dolls but treated them very differently. Christine the woman who kept going on about Harry was very sad I thought.

I've just started Season 1 of Heroes. Apart from not having the time, I didn't bother before now because I expected to be disappointed with it...after all, most things which are hyped up like this tend to disappoint. But it's brilliant!
I'm glad I made time for this after finishing Journeyman, which I believe hasn't been picked up for a second season. I'm disappointed by this decision, as this was another good, enjoyable series...at least they had the decency to give us a few answers (although by no means all of them) rather than just being another series which disappears with an unfinished storyline. There's a satisfying feeling of closure about the final episode, but with enough unanswered questions in case the series did get a second season. Journeyman was one of 2007's highlights for me, and being a year behind everyone else, Heroes already looks like being my highlight of 2008
Has anyone here seen a tv mini-series called The Lost Room? A friend recommended it to me at a new years party, but maybe because of the beer I totally forget what she said it was about!Last edited by MacNimon; 3rd Jan 2008 at 4:06 PM.

A friend (who's really in to Heroes) recommended it to me also, and has lent me it on dvd. I haven't found time to watch it yet as I've been busy watching Heroes!
If I recall, it's about this weird room, which contains lots of different items that do different/special things. or something.
Wikipedia says this.....
A Policeman uncovers a key while working on a murder case. The key can open every door and take him into a motel room, but if you leave there something that doesn't belong to you- it will be gone as soon as the room "restarts"... He discovers that there are objects hidden in whole the world. They don't look special, but they have special powers. When his daughter is kidnapped and he is framed for killing his partner, he must find a way to bring her back from the room, while working with different groups and men searching for all the objects. But who can he really trust when everybody goes crazy once touching the objects“If my sons did not want wars, there would be none.” - Gutle Schnaper Rothschild

Save a last-minute reprieve, Journeyman is sadly toast. Then again the way things are going we might not get a 'next season' of anything...
My wife taped The Lost Room with the intention of watching it, but gave up after the first part because it was so dull! Apparently it was mooted for a series following it, however Sci-Fi declined to take them up on it, so I'm not sure whether the miniseries ends properly, or is setting up for a series.Your people? Your people??? They are MY people now!

They only made 6 or 7 episodes to start with, then tried again a few years later. Obviously not many would remember such a short-lived series 30 years later...

Just watched the Still Game Hogmanay special again, to see if I might enjoy it a bit more this time, but sadly it disappointed me. After the fantastic Christmas episode, I was expecting more of the same, but sadly it wasn't to be. Jack and Victor came across as a couple of arseholes as they mercilessly teased the people on the island, and the Winston/Tam sub-plot was just dull. As for Navid, he raised a smile, but that was it.
Very poor for what is otherwise a fine series.

Agree about Palmer. The minute I saw his name in the opening credits, I just knew he'd be the President. Predictable & highly unlikely at the same time.
I'm on episode 6, but yes, Ep.4 is a real corker, didn't expect that ending.
BTW, back on the subject of The Lost Room, I noticed whilst channel hopping last night that it's currently running on Sky (Sky Two I think).“If my sons did not want wars, there would be none.” - Gutle Schnaper Rothschild

Over the last 24hrs i've finished S6 of err.... '24'. (I've watched about 12 eps today!)
Needless to say i really enjoyed it. (Obviously) Not 'undewhelmed or disappointed at all. The last 4 eps were especially good.
Back to the movies tomorrow with 'The Alamo'.

Finished off the last two episodes (10 & 11) of Heroes S2 (Chapter II) last night. We've really enjoyed it, although the overall storyline has been a bit convoluted & confusing at times. One thing I must praise has been that the direction on this has been superb, with some absolutely wonderful shots in the last two or three episodes, some of the best I've seen in tv shows.
Obvious Heroes S2 spoilers.....
Zachary Quinto playing Sylar has gone from strength to strength, imo, and is fast becoming one of tv's best ever villains! I wish they'd kill off Doctor Suresh though, he's so annoying. Oh, and it was great to see Joanna Cassidy (from Bladerunner) getting a small role in this. I've liked the way that the makers have unashamedly cast people from other sci-fi shows, like Eccleston, Takei & Nichelle Nichols.
Anyone got any up to date news on the american writers strike? When can we expect to see Chapter III ?“If my sons did not want wars, there would be none.” - Gutle Schnaper Rothschild

I enjoyed parts of S.2 but...
I thought it took a little while to get going, and the Mexican brother and sister did absolutely nothing for me. I agree with you about Suresh too, I'm surprised he was so gullible, and the resolution to Mr Bennett's storyline annoyed me a bit too. I don't think they really knew what to do with Claire this year either, other than give her a bit of a rubbish boyfriend. Peter messing around in Ireland took a bit too long to get going as well, though it was fine once he was back in the US.
I really liked the bits with Hiro though, and Adam made for a superb villain, I just hope that's not the last we've seen of him. Parkman continues to be one of my favourite characters as well, and I think it could be quite fascinating to see how his powers evolve.
As for the writer's strike, there's still no change, and it looks like it could go on for a fair old while yet unfortunately.
I went to see the recording of the new ITV comedy show Thank God You're Here last night, which goes out on Saturday night and is an improvisation based comedy where 4 celebs have to walk in to a set with no script and no idea of what's going on, and just have to do their best to wing it.
I quite liked it, but was surprised by how good some of the contestants were, and how dodgy were the others, but it shows promise and I'll definitely watch it for a good few weeks to come to see how it all turns out."RIP Henchman No.24."
