Cling onto the TARDIS console and hold their breaths as the overwhelmingly powerful pressure of the Thames' water bursts through the doors and fills the entire console room?
The big question is why, when they're going to open the doors to let the water in, he and Adric then try and hold them shut.

For the record, Si, I don't think it's silly either, but I know it was discussed at some length before. As regards the door business, I presume they're holding them shut because they want to make sure they're both totally ready for it.
I don't personally think it's any 'sillier' than people surviving when their cars end up under-water, and that's not impossible is it.

Why would they need it? I'm working on the 'finger in the dyke' principle, in which case they surely would be able to hold the doors closed, in the same way one finger could hold back the entire North Sea (or whatever it was).

Today I was too busy talking to some friends to watch Episode 3 of "Planet of Evil".

Ah, Daemos Rising, the one thing that could convince me to watch The Mutants again! Anything but Daemos!!!!!!!!!
One Day, I shall come back, Yes, I shall come back,
Until them, there must be no regrets, no tears, no anxieties, Just go forward in all your beliefs,
and prove to me that I am not mistaken in mine!

I'm finally managing to see Inferno for the first time. The first two episodes are alright, but I'm not sure that it deserves its reputation based on these episodes alone.

No, it doesn't deserve its reputation. It's way over rated.

On the other hand, it's great.

I'm always curious as to who decides what the reputation of any story is - seems to me that any story a lot of people simply enjoy as a result gets slated by others... and then people watch them to death slate them because they're boring
People are just so fickle....

These days, the person who writes the DVD inlays seems to decide the reputation of each story. Thus the weasle words for dreary get-accused-of-murder nonsense "Planet of Evil" focusses on the fact that it apparently contains the best sets in Doctor Who history, while poor "Timelash"'s sleeve helpfully prepares the viewer for what it believes is the worst story of all time by apologising prefusely for it's awfulness, and raising a sympathetic eyebrow as if excusing a shamed least-favourite son. Whatever mistakes the video sleeves used to have, at least they were impartial.

Yesterday I watched Castravalva with the commentary on and laughed loads at the end of episode 4 when they're all pointing out how queasy Matthew Waterhouse looks.
