The Curse of Kamelion
You know something has only just struck me about a recent tragic event.
The 'curse' of Doctor Who's ill-fated robotic assistant Kamelion has been remarked upon before. His software designer was killed in a boating accident shortly after the character was invented. Both actors to play him on screen, Dallas Adams and Gerald Flood, died soon after. Both his writers, Peter Grimwade and Terrance Dudley, likewise are dead, neither being particuarly old. Even Anthony Ainley, who briefly played Kamelion in "Planet of Fire" is now dead.
So in the nineties it became mildly amusing to quip "Look out Craig Hinton!" when the Virgin scribe wrote Kamelion into a novel. Craig... oh God.
It's now got beyond the spooky, and is virging on the sinister. Is there something in the Curse of Kamelion? Or is it purely coincidence?

I would discuss it, but I don't want to meet a sticky end...

I once did a daft impression of Kamelion. So I'M DOOMED!!!!
Seriously though there isn't anything in it at all. Its like any of the other curses that belong to programmes or films. Just coincidence. Gerald Flood wasn't a well man anyway. I've no idea about Dallas Adams. Anthony Ainley only died recently and was pretty old anyway, so not connected. Does anyone know the circumstances of the designers death? Probably nothing sinister.
I expect if you look hard enough at anything that connects a lot of people you'll discover a pattern of death.

Kamelion was on TV 20 years ago. In that time, it's understandable that we've lost some of the people involved in his creation. Even The Crystal Bucephalus must have been about 10 years ago.
I wonder what happened to the original Kamelion prop? I don't recall it ever appearing at any displays or exhibitions. Unless it's gone crazy and is stalking writers and actors.Pity. I have no understanding of the word. It is not registered in my vocabulary bank. EXTERMINATE!

But most of those people died near the time! Grimade, Flood, Adams, the designer chappie.

Coincidence! Nothing more!
I wonder what happened to the original Kamelion prop?
I've often wondered what happened to the prop as well. Its definitely not used in the Fifth Doctor's regeneration sequence. The Kamelion there looks completely different.
(I feel a Brief Encounter coming on!)

Peter Davison and Janet Fielding did also briefly play him.
He does also appear in one of Chris Bulis's novels, too.
