Yes, that's a good way of looking at it. I haven't got any particular problems with what bit of plot there actually is, as such. It's just that it doesn't engage me at all. It just comes across really inconsequential.
There aren't too many Davo era stories that i've only ever seen once, that left me with no real desire to bother watching again, but this was one of them.
So i'm glad it's 'Black Orchid', & not 'The King's Demons', even though i'd personally prefer 'The Awakening'.

Magna Carta wasn't given much attention for a long time historically (there's no mention of it in the Shakespeare play about King John, for example), but it was "re-discovered" to some extent in the seventeenth century during the political and constitutional struggles of that era, and it, or views of what it amounted to (however accurate or otherwise they may have been at the time) did go on to influence the developments mentioned in the Wiki article. Whereas had it not been there, it obviously wouldn't have been possible for anyone to draw from it even a mistaken inspiration.
Anyway, Magna Carta is probably only supposed to be one bit of the Master's scheming. He's probably intending, in the story, to do all sorts of other things to disrupt history too.

"The Kings Demons" is one of the best Doctor Who stories of all time.

Pip was at his leaving do with (now ex) workmates...
Fortunately, the 16mm camera negatives, cut up into A/B roll format for printing, were retained by the BBC library. As with other stories from that season, we were able to telecine these to obtain the best possible image area and picture quality. The results are impressive, with much better levels of detail, more vibrant colours and better stability.
A Film Restoration featurette (dur. 2' 39") shows 'before and after' examples of techniques used during the restoration of the location film elements of this story.
The commentary features all four of the TARDIS crew - Peter Davison, Janet Fielding, Sarah Sutton and Matthew Waterhouse.

I like the house 'n' TARDIS but it would have been better with the Harlequin poking above the banner bit dyaknowotimean?

I really like that cover, too, although it does look like the harlequin is going "Is it Nyssa? Is it Ann? Search me, guv!"

Maybe he's saying "Who's better, Nyssa or Ann? There's only one way to find out...

It does look a bit like Davison's bottom is on fire.

It does look as though Anne and Nyssa have painted their faces purple and are standing on top of biscuit barrels, while the Harlequin in front is trying to work out which of them has the best stubble on their chin. While Davison looks cross because Adric has stolen his bag of Cheesy Wotsits.
Can you not see it?Pity. I have no understanding of the word. It is not registered in my vocabulary bank. EXTERMINATE!

Cranleigh Hall was very convenient for the station and Lord Cranleigh soon learned to avoid having breakfast just as the Flying Scotsman was due through.
