Default The Best & Worst of Who on DVD!?

While the argument over IoT rages as to whether it's crap & if we've had a glut of 'poor' stories released recently or not, I was wondering...what would your ideal annual release schedule look like?
And to balance, what would your idea of a total load of buzzcocks look like as an annual release schedule?

    List time!

A year of black and white releases would be heaven.

A year of season 19 & 20 Davison stories would be hell.

All personal. If you want a year of Pertwee then on your head be it.

(I personally would hate a year of the same Doctor my self).

The things I love about lists include:

    1. They list things
    2. They tell you things in order of preference
    3. etc

    Ten I'd like -

    The War Games
    The Time Monster
    Planet of the Daleks
    Trial of a Time Lord
    The Keys of Marinus
    The Sensorites
    The Seeds of Doom
    Planet of the Spiders
    The Krotons
    Planet of Fire

There aren't any I don't want to see released. Unless they start releasing discs with no extras or effort I'm fine with everything that comes out.
Dennis, Francois, Melba and Smasher are competing to see who can wine and dine Lola Whitecastle and win the contract to write her memoirs. Can Dennis learn how to be charming? Can Francois concentrate on anything else when food is on the table? Will Smasher keep his temper under control?

If only the 28th century didn't keep popping up to get in Dennis's way...

I would pick the majority of great stories, a couple of lesser stories cleverly packaged and a few unusual choices. So my year of DVD's would be:

    Terror of the Zygons
    Attack of the Cybermen
    The Sunmakers
    The Rescue
Frontier In Space/Planet of the Daleks double pack
    Image of the Fendahl
    Kinda/Snakedance
    Paradise Towers
    The Deadly Assassin
    Greatest Show In The Galaxy
    E-Space Trilogy

That would be my sort of year. A couple of the lesser-liked stories discretely released, one Hartnell, Colin and McCoy to rashion them, two decent box sets, and plenty of those reliable, generally popular, decent four-parters like "Zygons", "Greatest Show" or "Deadly Assassin" to keep the momentum going. That way you slip out the bad stories without anyone really noticing. At the moment, it almost seems to be the other way round.

As for bad year, well that would surely just be a list of all the dross in one year. So here we go: "Timelash", "Time Flight", "Robot", "Arc of Infinity"... oh, hang on...

    Si.

I would love to know who on this site would be sucker enough to buy Dr Who stories all over again if they come out in Blu Ray format.

Personally I can't think of anything I'm really desparate to see on DVD at the moment. I hope they continue to release missing stories like Invasion using animation to patch up the holes, as I felt that was the most exciting 2007 release, cos it allowed me to see the full story without missing bits. I got similarly excited over Shada a few years before, which I also felt was terrific.

In my view the majority of films and TV I like are probably not going to look any better on a supposedly upgraded format. I haven't seen Blu-Ray to know if it's worth having - I can't help but feel it appeals to the materialistic need to dissatisfy people with what they've got.

One of the best restored films I've seen on DVD is 1964's "My Fair Lady" and I think it looks fabulous on normal DVD so how better can it be? If it gets this good on normal DVD I don't see how DW can look any better.

So I think the normal DVD format will do me just fine - the move from VHS is the major one, Blue-Ray is a gimmick is it not?
