Default RIP Sir John Harvey-Jones - The Troubleshooter!

    http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/6285160.stm

Sir John Harvey-Jones has passed away at the ripe old age of 83. I remember seeing some of The Troubleshooter, which surely paved the way for programs like Dragons Den and that Alan Sugar one. I was impressed with his flamboyant personality and charisma.
A businessman and a celebrity. Not to mention what he did for ICI and the remnants of British Industry.
Pity. I have no understanding of the word. It is not registered in my vocabulary bank. EXTERMINATE!

No - surely his was much more important a TV program than the reality TV wannabes.

Some of his programs are still talked about, it brought to employee consiousness some often deeply entrenched problems with how we try to run and manage activities.

I know a few places which wanted a troublshooter makeover.

What an absolutely great quote ...

Sir John always insisted he was a world away from the often aggressive business advice offered on Dragons' Den or the Apprentice.

"It is not your job to exploit your position of power," he said. "It's easy [to do that]."

"My experience of life is that you get the best out of people by encouraging their self belief."
