Fish. What's your favourite.

Inspired by the soup thread, and 'cos I've just had fish and chips for my tea, I wondered what's our favourite fish.

Do we like Skate, Halibut, Trout, Haddock, Cod or Salmon? The list is almost endless.

And do we like fried fish battered or breadcrumbed? and with vinegar or tartare sauce?

Personally I like a bit of White Haddock, with nice crispy batter, but out to a pub or restaurant if salmon's on the menu I love it with lime and coriander.

I'm not a huge fan of fish & chips, but i do sometimes have those boil in the bag Cod in Parsley Sauce & other varaitions. And i like a nice Tuna Sweetcorn/Mayonaisse baguette, & sometimes have tinned Red Salmon.
Oh, i do occasionally have fish fingers or fish cakes, as well.
That's about it fish-wise. I'm not mad about it.

Tuna's nice in either a sandwich or a salad, Kippers are quite nice too, though a little too stinky. Rollmops are absolutly phenomenal, and I'm quite partial to crabsticks. Aldi's do some nice Tuna Steaks with Lime and Coriander, yum yum.

Oh, and how come tuna is called fish when Dolphins are mammals?

fresh fried catfish with tartar sauce is a local favorite. I like the Bourbon Salmon found at restaurant chain over here as well.

I prefer other kinds of seafood more though. Lobster, crab, shrimp scampi... that's where its at!

You can't beat a nice sweaty Kipper or bit of Mackerel. Scampi is also good.

All though I do enjoy a bit of fish I would not say I'm a huge fan of it my favourites are Cod, Haddock and Scampi , Salmon is ok and i'll eat it when given. But I hate Tuna - the smell of it aloan when you open up a tin is just so repellent to me.

Sea bass is a particular favourite of mine, baked in brown paper with whole crystals of sea salt and seaweed. I'd probably serve it on a bed of shredded savoy cabbage sauteed in butter and nutmeg, or sweated spinach, and covered with toasted mixed peppers and red onions. Healthy and colourful.

I like most fish actually, and different ones lend themselves to different dishes. A dill sauce is the perfect accompaniment for salmon, served with wild rocket, and dry roasted baby jacket potatoes in herb butter.

We've had salmon tonight. I love salmon... cooked in the oven with olive oil and dill is the way I like it best. It always goes down well!

But I like most types of fish from Cod to Tuna. I'm not fussy!

I like a bit of seafood myself - prawns, crab, squid...but i'm quite happy eating cod and i quite like a kipper now and then.

Because tuna have gills but dolphins breathe air.

There is such a thing as a Dolphin Fish though, completely unrelated to the mammal.

I always like fish; red snapper, swordfish and shark are probably my favorite.

I like shelfish as well. I'll eat just about any sea creature-lobster, mussels, langustines, caviar, macrel, sea weed, diver, submarine, squid, prawn, crab, oyster, cod, tuna you name it.

I live in East Scotland, so its battered haddock with 'salt n sauce'.

I'm not a big fan of fish-and especially not wiv it's head still on...yeuch.
Mind you, I think the ugliest fish dish I've ever seen was on Ready Steady Cook a while back-cooked by that little mock Italian Gino Di Campo.
Prawn Cocktail tho', I like that.

My favourites are salmon, lightly cooked so it just falls away... and tuna which is the Sandwich Filling Of Dreams. Can you beat a tuna baguette with sweetcorn and a little mayo?

I don't like sea-food at all but I absolutely adore fish.

Amongst my favourites are monkfish, lemon sole and salmon. Apart from that I like most types of fish except smoked haddock as it stinks the house out for days afterwards!

I tend to buy chicken most of the time. Not a huge Fish fan but I will buy it now and again.

Kippers are nice but best eaten outdoors on a BBQ, Cod I suppose is a popular one because it's part of the great British Chippie tradition...

I'm a big fan of some of the fish delicacies...

smoked salmon, king prawns, gravad'lax, crab and so on. My Dad buys them cheap en masse in Billingsgate market

I'm also partial to a bit of cod in batter, smoked haddock, skate, salmon.

I'm not a fan of trout, as I consider it to be too much effort!

Anyway, thanks for bumping up this thread, two years since I started it, I'm surprised anyone would have found it after so long.

Since the thread was started I've discovered swordfish, my cousin brought a steak to a BBQ down the caravan last year. I BBQued it with a light soy sauce in a tray in the corner of the BBQ, and WOWIE!! what a lovely firm, tasty steak it turned out to be. Delicious!
