    Default Barry Morse RIP

I've just seen a post on The Mausoleum Club to the effect that veteran actor Barry Morse has died at the age of 89. Can't corroborate its truthfullness atm, but a sad loss if it's true.
I remember Morse in some great series through the years, mainly Space 1999, but he starred in other series such as The Zoo Gang and famously as Lt Gerard, the detective forever tracking down David Janssen's character Richard Kimble in The Fugitive from 1963 to 1967.

    RIP Barry Morse.

It's not nice to hear of a person dieing but if true, he lived to a good age.

    R.I.P. Barry.

I'd forgotten The Adventurer, I've not seen that since the early seventies.

I'm sorry to hear that - I enjoyed his performances in Space 1999 he helped make series 1 special. I also saw him recently in The Saint and The Martian Chronicles where he plays a good part.

I guess he lived to a good age but I'm still sorry to hear the news

I actually thought he was already dead which is a terrible thing to say. But I think I've been riffling through a few people's profiles on Wikipedia and found some people like say Ed Bishop had died years ago and I never realised. I thought Barry was one.

You have to thank God for Barry in Space 1999, as he turned in a very watchable performance next to the performances of Martin Landau and the very wooden Barbera Bain (so badly wooden, it's more chipboard than pine).

Yes, I remember him particularly from Granada's summer holiday reruns of Space 1999 (so Carol might have the same recollection)- rewatching it at a more discriminating age, it's clear just how good a counterbalance to Landau and Bain he was.

"To everything that might have been."

    "...To everything that was."

It's sad news, but he lived to a good age didn't he? We've recently enjoyed a few of his perfomances in the infamous The Adventurer and he was far and away the best thing about it.

    Si xx

I remember him fondly from Space 1999 as well. I passed him in the street about three or four years ago in Covent Garden; he looked rather well for someon in his mid-eighties, and quick on his feet too. Then, he seemed to have a lot more years in him yet, so this is a bit of a surprise. Sad as well, if it's true.

to be fair Mike, I think we're all like that I've certainly had the same thought on quite a few occasions but it's probably more down to many of these older actors/actresses just having not been seen or heard of for many years so people just assume they had already died..

As for Barry Morse, apart from Space 1999 I can't honestly say I know him for any thing else.
