Default The Waking From A Long Sleep Game ...

I thought this might be a fun game to play, we've done it on another forum. The recent episode of Torchwood (To the last man) got me thinking about it all over again.

You've gone into a coma/cryogenics in December 1989, and have only just come out of it. In catching up on events of the last 20 years, what would cause you the most shock/bemusement?

I'd be surprised it took them 15 years to make another series of Doctor Who.

Good grief! The moon is still here and so is Barbara Bain.

Bruce Forsyth is still on TV!?

Seriously, I'd be surprised that we aren't living on the moon & don't have robot butlers & jet packs & cars running on water. Bloody Tomorrows World.

Blimey. When I went to sleep Doctor Who fans were a miserable bunch complaining about every new episode and forecasting nothing but doom for the future. Now, with twenty years of maturity and patience later.... oh wait.

"Why isn't Phil Collins still number one?"

(for those who don't know, But Seriously was #1 in the album charts during December 1989, spending 15 non-consecutive weeks at the top)

I remember that era. We all had "... But Seriously". Seems a very long time ago now.

Shame it was so popular because it's probably only his fourth best album (discounting compilations).

It had all the best hits on though! Like "Oh I Wish it Would Rain Down On Me" and that other one.

Hits don't mean a thing, boy. I mean, look at Led Zep.

Why does everyone carry a walkie talkie with them, and how come they don't answer saying "breaker breaker" anymore?

Ditto Elton John and that nice Barrymore- what did their wives say?

    Nobody's assassinated Mrs Thatcher.

Elsie Tanner's son in law made Labour electable again.

How come there are two Georgias now and why can't England beat either of them?
