Another thrilling thirteen weeks of brand new Who! Hurrah!
Donna Noble is determined to find the Doctor again - even if it means braving the villainous Miss Foster and her hordes of sinister Adipose...

Sorry, I meant roll on the fart gag-style humour. Last night's clip featured a fat woman in a toilet going all wobbly while Mrs Tate bangs on the door asking for the bog. No-one actually farted though, but it wasn't a million miles away from the fat farting Slitheen, hence "roll on..."

Are you happy for me to add an "oh, never mind" to that?

What a boring start. That wasn't my cup of tea at all. I know it's a kids show but even the Sarah Jane Adventures had better stories than that!
Catherine Tate was alright though, & i'm sure there'll be other stories to come that will be more my bag.
But even so...... That was somewhere in between meh & rubbish.

Now, I wasn't born until two years after Earthshock, but I would imagine the end of part one felt something like that...
Marvellous to have such an unexpected moment! I wasn't too sure about the episode overall, but Donna is a breath of fresh air, and I look forward very much to their continued adventures.

I guess if you're about 10 years old Doctor Who is great fun
I've given this 4/10 as I really believe thats a fair score as it just washed over me....

7/10 - good fun but not up to last years season opener.
A great fall-off-your-chair moment at the end though!

A few unrelated points in no particular order:
1) Either my clocks are all wrong or the BBC decided to put this on a couple of minutes early. Oh well, I presume there wasn't anything particularly amazing before the credits.
2) I hope the Tereleptils will make a comeback before too long, then they can destroy the sonic screwdriver/magic wand again.
3) While they are at it they can quietly dispose of Murray Gold too and save us from the incessant, intrusive and, above all, crap incidental music. Bring back Keff McCulloch, at least he had the decency to not score 100% of the screen time.
4) It seems to me that if the Doctor, Donna and that reporter hadn't got involved nothing bad would have happened at all. Millions of people would have lost the fat they wanted and been none the wiser, the alien fat people would have got all the children they wanted.Everything would have been fine.
5) On a related note, exactly when did the Doctor's character change from a guy who just travels around to see things, to a guy who actively goes around looking for "crimes" to solve.
6) Was Rose made up to look about 10 years older, or has Billie Piper just been overdoing it lately?
7) Does anyone else think it would have been nice for next week's story to just have been an old-fashioned historical adventure, without the need for a bunch of aliens getting involved as usual?

6/10 Not as good as last years opener, but it was fun. Tate wasn't as annoying as I expected. Not a story for repeated viewing, but fun all the same. My daughter loved it..."those aliens are just so cuuuute!!!!"
That final scene with Rose was a nice surprise, I didn't expect to see her so soon...this years Bad Wolf, perhaps?

A very "meh" episode for me, the first 20 minutes or so I really struggled with, though I did like the second half a lot, especially the cutesy fat alien babies and the big Close Encounter's style space ship.
It was a bit pointless overall though, and Tate, whilst not annoying me too much, didn't really impress me at all. At least she's not making the show too painful to watch I guess which I feared she might.
I gave it 7/10 - but one of those points was for the surprise at the end!"RIP Henchman No.24."
