So long as the actual series brings in more than that then we should be good.
Can you imagine the headlines if the reveal is more popular than the actual show?

The story of how Doctor Who began, An Adventure In Space And Time, drew 2.16m/9.7% to BBCTwo, just above the slot average.

And of course it was up against the "might" of I'm A Celebrity. I expect it will get good IPlayer figures.

All those fools who went to cinema ruined it! Dooooomed!

Although that's pretty good really isn't it? I take it overall viewing figures are still in decline.

If that's 'just' the overnight TV ratings, I think that's darned good. When you add in the timeshifts, and on this occasion the theatre viewers (even before we get to the other 93 countries watching it)... A hit, a palpable hit!

On another thread someone said that it was beaten by Strictly in the ratings

What a shame Doctor Who doesn't bring in any money for the Beeb huh?

    Tom Spilsbury on Twitter:

The Day of the Doctor's UK rating is up to 11.8m after one day of adding 'timeshifting' viewers.
This one is going to be huge!

I wonder when we'll get worldwide figures? In theory this could be the most watched programme EVER!

    From Yog on GB...

    +2 Days: 12.179m

Might just edge 13m in the finals.

Decent business at UK box office as well...

    Grand Total 16.14m

Doesn't that just about put it above City of Death (no reference book to hand atm) and definitely does when you add in the cinema audience?!

Just the 2.8m timeshift this time!

    From ronant on Digital Spy:

Christmas Day 2013 - consolidated ratings

    1 - Mrs Brown's Boys: 11.52m
    2 - Doctor Who: 11.14m
    3 - Coronation Street: 9.83m (9.40m excl. +1)
    4 - Downton Abbey: 9.41m (8.95m excl. +1)
    5 - EastEnders: 9.36m
    6 - Call the Midwife: 9.16m
    7 - Strictly Come Dancing: 8.84m
    8 - Toy Story 3: 7.33m
    9 - Emmerdale: 7.07m (6.77m excl. +1)
    10 - The Queen (BBC One): 5.82m

With Still Open All Hours about to hit 12m (from same Digital Spy thread) and last night's Sherlock surely heading for 11m (9.18m overnight) it's been a decent festive fortnight for old-skool 10m+ ratings.
