It's all one story obviously, it says so on screen

Don't be silly, it's clearly four seperate narratives with a loose linking theme
9 50.00% -
Actually I think you'll find it's three stories, check the production codes

Last Trial of a Timelord standing
Jumping the gun a little here, but it's best to be prepared
When it comes to the "Last C Baker Standing" thread, how should Trial of a Timelord be handled? I thought getting a consensus on this now would stop tantrums later on

Form an orderly queue. Red anoraks on the left. Blue anoraks on the right. Green ones down the middle. Notepads & reference books at the ready.

But Wayne, surely yellow anoraks, yellow anoraks, yellow anoraks are best.
At least that's what the slick sales guy at Anoraks R Us told me. The swine!

Although it clearly is 1 story on TV, it's 4 different Target books, plus if we don't split it into 4 stories it's going to make the 'Last Colin Baker Standing' thread a very brief affair indeed. At least by splitting it into 4 we can get the total number of stories into double-figures!!!

Despite Colin being the only half decent Doctor of the 80s this is still pretty s**t - I say make it one story so it can be dismissed with ease

Like a quantum particle its both at the same time, clearly one story on screen (and how it should be released on dvd) but there is clearly 4 different stories told as part of that story.
However over all I always go for the 1 story approach, none of the separate segments make much sense on their own (especially the 2nd one, which is heavily reliant on the trail structure for a lot of its scenes) and there are plenty of examples in literature (for example Lord of the Rings) that contain lots of smaller stories as part of some greater whole, no one argues that these are actually anything more then 1 story though.
I can however see the argument for 4 separate stories though, and I guess it up to the individual and the circumstances as to what you count it as.
ETA : for purposes of voting though I would probably count it as 4 stories, its more fun that way and their are clearly different styles in each of the segments.

4 stories, cos' there's a different quality to each episode. I mean you can't compare the quality of MindWarp to Terror of the Veravoids...

You can't really compare the Quality of the first episode of The Mind Robber to the other 4 either (and probably lots of other examples)
