Time Lords
Apart from the Doctor, how many named Time lords were there? Was the Meddling Monk a Time Lord, seeing as he had a Tardis?

Yes he was, as was The Master & The Rani and Romana of course.
And Professor Chronotis from Shada.Last edited by Dirk Gently; 6th May 2008 at 4:49 PM. Reason: :p @Ant!

Also Drax and Azmael and Morbius, and almost the entire casts of Deadly Assassin, Invasion of Time and Arc of Infinity. The War Chief was a Time Lord too.

Then there's Borusa, Drax, Azmael, Thalia, Flavia, Spandrell, Engin, that woman who works on traffic control. Oh and Omega and Rassilon. And the War Chief. There's looooads.
...er, as was just said. Damn I forgot Morbius

There are loads on Gallifrey named in Deadly Assassin, Invasion of Time and Arc of Inifinity (though we only get titles in Three Doctors).
Outside Gallifrey we have Morbius , The War Chief in the War Games and Azmael in Twin Dilemma, but I think Drax is a failed Time Lord (or just a Gallifreyan)
Edited to add : I see we're all getting in on it now !!Bazinga !

Most of the time lords who were prominent were baddies, then. It's a shame really that they're all gone as they were good adversaries for the doctor.

Possibly Susan.

Also, if you're from Gallifrey (as Susan probably was) does that automatically make you a Timelord?

Apparently not. I can't remember where but I found that out. Someone will probably come on here & correct me.

Well the evidence to the contrary comes up occasionally:
(i) we see numerous citizens of Gallifrey die without regenerating (guards the like) suggesting they arn't Time Lords
(ii) The term "Time Lords" are referred to in some Gallifrey stories, suggesting not everyone is one

That's a good point; is one born a Time Lord or simply a Gallifreyan (if indeed, they are different things).
Does being able to regenerate automatically make one a Time Lord (I suppose it does, but what I am asking is whether one is defined by the natural ability to regenerate, or is being a Time Lord a title that is earned)?
I must admit that I always assumed that if you regenerated - then you were born with that ability (I'm making this sound as if it's true now), but maybe you do have to go to school to earn the right to regenerate.
Maybe existing Time Lords can make a regular Gallifreyan a Time Lord; after all Borusa offers the Master a complete new life cycle in the 5 Doctors???
Hmmmmmmm..................
