    Default RIP David Brierly

Sad news - the voice of K9 during season seventeen, David Brierly, has died of cancer. He passed away on June 10th.

Although he was forever in the shadow of John Leeson, I thought he did a great job in the four stories he worked on and he'll be missed.

That's sad. Although John Leeson really IS K9, David Brierley's version was of course in placed during my beloved season 17, so I have a lot of affection for it & him.

To be honest I don't know him. If you say "voice of K9" I think John Leeson.

But it is sad news all the same. It's never nice to hear people have died.

    R.I.P David.

This is sad news. Like most people I also think of John Leeson, but I have to say I really liked David's version.
Ok, a lot of it was down to the script, but he was rather sarcastic sounding, which I loved!!!

Poor old David Brierly. RIP The 'Camp' K-9!
Pity. I have no understanding of the word. It is not registered in my vocabulary bank. EXTERMINATE!

It's a rare talent to be able to steal scenes from Tom Baker without even being in shot.

In hindsight it's a shame that the K9 set couldn't have included something like 'Nightmare of Eden' as well given the timing.

It's sad news given his relatively young age, and what a shame that none of his stories have been released on DVD, thus denying us any interviews/commentaries.

On screen, he wasn't "my" K9 at all - the only S17 stories I saw (pre-video age) were the repeats of Destiny and City in summer 1980 - in which K9 was hardly seen and didn't speak per se! I've never taken to his voice subsequently I'm afraid, although K9 the character is well served in the rest of S17.

Bloody hell, he was only as old as my Dad...his 'camp K9' is fondly recalled! RIP David.

You could never imagine John Leeson reading Peter Rabbit. RIP
