You know what? I think I'm going crazy.
I think I'm going crazy. Is it just me, or does this happen to everyone?
In the early black-and-white episodes of Doctor Who, the "hum" inside the console room is quite loud and noticeable. Well, recently, I keep hearing the exact same hum at the oddest times!
For instance,
- At my Grandmother's house, standing at the bottom of the garden, looking at some far-off fields and contemplating life, the universe and everything, I suddenly heard it, loud as anything.
- Just outside a pub, I was eating lunch and suddenly heard it coming from an outbuilding.
- When I was lying on my bedroom floor with my ear pressed to the ground (I won't go into details) I suddenly heard it through the floor.
The thing is, they all sounded exactly like the TARDIS console room hum. Is it just me? Or does this happen to other people too?

Its an easy mistake to make.
You're hearing the hum of the alien machines which maintain the virtual reality matrix in which they have enslaved the whole of humanity and that you have mistaken for the real world in which you think you live.
Deja Vu ?Bazinga !

I think perhaps you may be a human TARDIS like Compassion in the EDAs.

I've just got my handcuffs and my truncheon and that's enough.

Tinnitus! You've been playing your music too loud, laddy. That ringing may mark oncoming deafness.
Pity. I have no understanding of the word. It is not registered in my vocabulary bank. EXTERMINATE!

it isn't ringing! It's humming. That fluctuating hum that you hear in the early episodes.

My fridge sometimes makes a hum very much like a Season 18-onward console room. It's quite nice when it does

It's just one fridge though. I don't hear it EVERYWHERE I go, particularly not while lying on the ground listening to floorboards

It's the stationary one actually, I obviously just don't know when they started using it. My mistake.
Having said that though, if you're THAT much of a conoisseur then you should have realised I wouldn't describe the in-flight noise as a "hum", it's more of a whine surely

My DVD recorder makes a humming noise when I have that on, I have to play some loud music to cover it. it's been on now for three hours, the neighbours are tearing their hair out.

I heard it again today!
I was watching a movie on tv at precisely 2:08 PM, and I heard it, clear as anything!
Plus, this morning I was walking through a church car park, and a bus went by just outside. I SWEAR I heard the TARDIS materialise behind it!
Or am I really going crazy?

Are you going through a phase of watching loads of Doctor Who at the moment? Maybe it's infecting your subconscious a little bit. Loads of things make mechanical/electrical hums so it's not too weird to hear that all over. But if you're hearing the TARDIS materialise now... that's a bit out there.
