Doesn't work Si. Eventually we'll reach the negative votes only stage and by them TATR would probably be miles out of site of most of the other stories.

Well his aim wasn't to bring down that one story - if it was, obviously he should take a point of it every day to his hearts content. His dilemma was which story to bring down first! I thought he might get more joy out of it if he picked a favourite story to champion, rather than simply trying to pick a story to bring down.

For most eras that's my stance, Si, but I'm a bit like Ralph (stuck in a 70s time-warp!

) so what I grew up enjoying in DW wasn't much in evidence in McCoy's era. Besides, trying to vote something out can sometimes be more fun!

Seriously though, I'm simply not a huge fan of McCoy's era. It's my least favourite era of the classic series, despite having a few gems in it. I'm not slagging it off, and I wouldn't criticise others for liking it just because I generally don't. But it just didn't sit well with me on first transmission, and although a few stories have grown on me over the years, and I've got a sneaky suspicion that I'll get more satisfaction taking points off some stories (although probably not any one in particular) than I'll get giving points to others when I really don't have an outright favourite from the era.

I've never said that I'm not going to give stories points, though...

Like I said, I'm just stuck in a 70s timewarp...

And apart from anything else, the game lasts for quite long enough as it is. More so now that people have to waste their time with so called 'wild cards'.

Neg voting makes the game less slow.

Indeed, I don't see the point of wasting positive votes when it's all negative in 3 weeks anyway.

It was also noticeable in previous rounds that if a story got it's points tally too high, it was targeted more by voters. It's why I'm loath to bump Battlefield up.
