Default Who would you NOT like to see as the 11th Doctor?

Come on, who's the last person you'd want to take control of the TARDIS?

    Rowan Atkinson?
    Lenny Henry?
Anyone Female? (Or should there be positive Discrimination at work here?).
    R.T.D? Oh...too late.

Come on, lets have a mass debate!

Interesting question - I have to say that four years ago I'd have said Christopher Eccleston, and he turned out to be fantastic, so with that sort of "of course, I'm probably completely wrong" proviso, I would not be happy to find out that the eleventh Doctor is going to be:

Richard E Grant (actually we have seen him as the Doctor already, and he was rubbish, so I think I'm on safe ground here)

    Leslie Grantham

Richard Coyle, I think he's a really one note actor.

Anyone who's been a tough gangster-y type in Eastenders. They've all been rubbish. Oh, and Shane Ritchie too. Obviously.

I'm pleased to see Richard E Grant on the list, as he's the most wrteched actor to ever play the Doctor in some kind of official capacity. His performances in Curse of Fatal Death and Shalka were both awful.

I like Richard E Grant. I still think he'd do well, but I don't think we'd be able to keep him more than a season much like Chris Ecclestone.

Someone who would truely disturb me in the role ...

Robson Green. Nigel Harman. James Nesbitt. Anyone picked to pull in the "laydees".

Basically we need someone older or sexless. Because the Doctor is quirky, deep, eccentric, a bit of a fuddy duddy but deep down magical and wise.

Alan Davies' name still occasionally gets bandied around - yes, he was quite good in 'Jonathan Creek', but no, he's not Doctor material.

(Besides, I don't particularly like him, either! )

Bill Nighy - no idea how he always gets on the rumours list, as I don't rate him in anything I've seen him in.
Anthony Head - though that seems very unlikely now anyway.

So I'm older and sexless then?

Thank goodness you said that Jon - every time I see Bill Nighy, I always think, WHY WHY WHY is he so well-regarded. I'm glad the Mail got it wrong back in 2004, and it was Eccleston after all!!

I think, with Tennant, they were lucky to get an actor just as he began to become well-known, so we kind of got him just as his star was on the ascendant, but before he was a big name. I'd like to see that sort of casting again - let's face it, I can't imagine nowadays they'd cast a virtual unknown (like Tom) but I'd like it not to be A Star from something else.

Of course, I'm still available, and would be willing to do it for 50% of what Tennant's on.

James Nesbitt, most certainly not and a big no to Jason Statham to.

Oh god yeah... Jason Statham is a definite no. Robson Green is up there too.

I don't see what would be so bad about some of these suggestions though... I'd love to know what someone like Rowan Atkinson or Hugh Lawrie would do with it, although it's not guaranteed that I'd like the results, and it's not going to happen anyway!

Oh, but I don't really want a female Doctor. Too gimmicky for my liking after all this time.

Well, yeah, if I could 100% guarantee that it was going to cause the heads of a large enough proportion of Our Great friends (obviously with a few choice selections in there) to literally explode, I might consider it.

I think you'd make a great female Doctor Kaybee. The character would need to be fit* & athletic in the New fast paced Whoniverse.

*Apply whatever connotations to the word that you see... erm..... fit.
