I just want to say one thing Dallas, sometimes people can be creatively edited to sound less affable than they are. I'm breezy, BREEZY you hear? And I love everyone. And it was a joy to take part in the wonderful audio adventure Doctor Who and the Cart of the Hanniard.

Don't blame the producer that's what I say! Certain stars were a mite cranky and diva-ish "on the day".

I'm not being a diva and I'm not being mean, but I think talent, creativity and a genuine to desire to create a high quality end result can sometimes be misconshrewd as "crank" or "diva-ish". Especially if the producer's being vacant and wearing a cowboy hat.

I just like all the shouting I get to do myself! And watching Paul's quiet Doctor get more and more shell shocked as the recording proceeds.

    Resistance is useless!

It's always best to use protection.

More seriously, as soon as I can get our speakers to work I will be listening to yon trailer - if it's as exciting as the gorgeous cover*, then I reckon we're in for a treat.

*Is it just me, or is there a bit of a 'Planet of Fire' vibe going on there, particularly with the Doctor and Oh Martin! Very summery.

Its the Doctor with Jacket Off action that gives that Planet of Fire vibe

Recorded approximately 15 years ago, Heart of The Haniad is about to see the light of day! Woo!

Astounding Fact #1 - This story was written in slightly less time than it took to record and recorded in even less time than it takes to listen to.

This is a more serious story than Doctor Who And The Christmas Gnomes (if such a thing is possible). Si Hart tells me it was also written before DWATCG although I'm quite baffled as to how that occurred.

Astounding Fact #2 - The Doctor's not wearing his jacket because of the desparate straits he finds himself in this story!

According to a copy of the script I've just found it features around 5,000 words, including "New Harlow Megropolis".

I'm not being a diva and I'm not being mean, but the STAR of the new series, I think I should be in the banner.

It's a funny beast! It wasn't meant to be sat on, but it was recorded at an odd time, at the tail end of the (believe it or not) "Magical History Tour" sessions. But I couldn't do post-prod on it because as soon I finished MHT I needed to do my episode of "Gnomes" and that had a deadline (Christmas, obviously) so by then it was Christmas and then New Year by the time I'd opened all my presents. And by that time it seemed wrong to present it as a standalone story because it was done quite quickly so people might be expecting something more, and besides we had a new season in the planning stages... hence it got to wait another six months while we wrote and recorded the new season and then waited for New Who to finish so we could release it. Poor old "Haniad"! I do think it works well as the opener to a new season though. And now finally the time is right for you all to meet Edward Bradley and uncover the legend of the Haniad!

It's also the last story we recorded using just one microphone, trivia fans.

Another trivia fact is that Steve's fondest memory of the recording, as discounted in a later interview, is of someone who wasn't even there. Which shows you how memorable it all must have been.

I can see it now on volume 1 of The Paul Monk Years:

"I'd love to regale you with some memories of this one, but I'm afraid I don't remember that at all..."
