Default The PS Day of the Daleks Commentary

It's become something of a tradition now that at around 2am after a rigorous PS Audio recording session and having consumed much drink I force people to stay awake and make comments about a Doctor Who story FOR FUN.

We've already done Battlefield (me, Ant Williams, Si Hart, Martin Penny, Si Hunt & Rob McCow) and Timelash (me, Dave Tudor, Ant Cox, Paul Monk, Martin Penny & Si Hunt).

Next Saturday 2nd August I hope we can get another one in the can. But which... hmm? Make your vote count. Even if you're not arsed & probably won't listen to it.

We must do The War Games! Or if that's too long, what about one of the two parters or a new series ep?

Time Flight. Cos drunk at 2am in the morning is the only time it'll ever make any sense.

We could try Day of the Daleks, but I'll just break into the Candyman song from Willy Wonka everytime the sweet shop owner in onscreen.

well i'd say Time And The Rani - as at that time on the morning being totally p*ssed out of your head is the only way you can watch it.

Every time anyone drinks wine, we'll have to drink too.

You guys should definitely go for Day of the Daleks... that was my first Docotr Who video and I've probably watched it a hundred times (it makes a funny whining sound in the VCR nowadays), and I still find new things to puzzle over/laugh at even now. I'd love to hear all your comments.

Okay, it's looking like Day of the Daleks - good choice people!

To keep our commentators awake and talkative, I'll be providing a limited supply of gorgonzola cheese, crackers and red wine.

    Don't let me down, boffins!

Well, I voted for Time-Flight, as it seemed the intention was to do one from each Doctor in reverse order, and as we've done McCoy and Colin, the next one would be a Davo. But I would be more than happy to do Day Of The Daleks, as it's one of those rarities - it's a great story (one of my favourite Pertwees, in fact) but there's plenty to laugh at and take the p*ss out of. Affectionately, of course.

I voted "Day" as it's one of those I'm not supposed to watch in case it comes out on DVD. I mean, you know what the RT are like - it's a good popular story, which means Lord Lucan will probably have a Christmas Number One before it comes out. And what are the chances of that, with the X-Factor dominating things at that time of year and all.

We were up all night with Sir Reginald Styles. Was that a twitching at the window?

We were all a bit tired, so I'm convinced the comments were more "Ogron" than "Controller" in terms of wit and intelligence though! It was all a bit scary for Mr.Hunt, who had his eyes shut throughout most of the four episodes. Even if it isn't the best Dalek story of all time (according to some) I think most of us really enjoyed it, which makes a change!
