    Default Desert Island Doctor Who

Nabbed this idea from someone else, but never mind eh

Imagine yourself stuck on a desert island, and you can only choose the following:

Any 4 episodes of New Series Who (ie Rose onward)

Any 3 seasons of Classic Series Who

Any 3 Big Finish CDs (or other *made for audio* related Who)

Any 3 books (ie EDA, PDA, MA. NA or non-fiction)

    Any 2 Target novels

    What would you choose?

Shall I get it rolling then? I'd take:

Dalek, The Parting of the Ways, The Girl in the Fireplace & Doomsday

    Seasons 5, 12 & 13

Three of the forthcoming McGann BBC7 radio plays

The Romance of Crime, System Shock & The Completely Useless Encyclopaedia to Doctor Who

The Power of the Daleks & The Evil of the Daleks (they sort of count )

Ok, this may be a bit tricky to choose but:

Any 4 episodes of New Series Who

Father's Day, Empty Child, Doctor Dances, Girl in the Fireplace

Any 3 seasons of Classic Series Who

    7, 14 and 19

    Any 3 Big Finish CDs

Chimes of Midnight, Phantasmagoria and Spare Parts

    Any 3 books

Blood Harvest, The Burning and Just War

    Any 2 Target novels

Web of Fear and Fury From The Deep

  4. #4

    Default

Fathers Day, School Reunion, Girl in the Fireplace, (crap i can't decide because i really want 2 parters now! ******) Eh i'll go with Love and Monsters (because marc warren is just so so good despite peter kay)

Season 26 obviously. Do we get missing episodes-if so season 4 and season 3- if not Season 18 (yes its tom baker) and Season 8.

Spare Parts (best who ever probably), Loups Garoux, Time Works

Fall of Yqatine, Reckless Engineering, Anachrophobia

The Ice Warriors, The Abominable Snowman

This is my saddest, most Doctor Who related post on PS (old or new) ever. I will never wear this fanboy hat ever again.

Any 4 episodes of New Series Who (ie Rose onward)

The Empty Child, The Doctor Dances, The Girl In The Fireplace, and Doomsday.

Any 3 seasons of Classic Series Who

19, 21, and 26. Certainly the latter, and I'd want at least a couple of Davison stories from his first and last series. Can I forego one or both of them and have The Five Doctors instead? But see also, the question about books below.

Any 3 Big Finish CDs (or other *made for audio* related Who)

I only own six (?) of them, and have heard less than ten, so my choices are bound to be rubbish. Definitely Shadow Of The Scourge (I still remember the excitement of getting this on tape, back in a different world of six or so years ago), and probably The Chimes Of Midnight because it was so scary. After that, I dunno... Jubilee, perhaps?

Wait a minute - I've forgotten The State Of Decay "audiobook" (as if it were ever known by such a name back in the day). I'll definitely have that in place of all of them.

Any 3 books (ie EDA, PDA, MA. NA or non-fiction)

Far too difficult to pick three novels... And as I have no guarantee of having a telly or video/DVD equipment on my island, can I forego having three seasons of 'old' Who and have three NA/EDA arcs instead? If I could, I'd have the "Alternative Universe" cycle from the NAs (Blood Heat through No Future), all the Faction Paradox EDAs from Alien Bodies to The Ancestor Cell (although probably only using the last one as a footrest), and then... oh hell, I don't know. It's all too complicated. I'll have Blood Heat, The Also People, and The Shadows Of Avalon. There.

    Any 2 Target novels

I'll have the Dalek Omnibus (it counts!) and An Unearthly Child.

Any 4 episodes of New Series Who (ie Rose onward)

Bad Wolf. Parting of the Ways. Dalek. The Unquiet Dead. (Because i can't have Empty Child/Doctor Dances, because that would make 5 eps)

Any 3 seasons of Classic Series Who

(Gateway Timeout trying to decide)..... 8, 10, 13 will have to do, but i also wanted 7, 11 & 12.

Any 3 Big Finish CDs (or other *made for audio* related Who)

    Spare Parts, Jubilee, Master

Any 3 books (ie EDA, PDA, MA. NA or non-fiction)

1964 Dalek Book, Dr.Who: The 70's, 'I am the Doctor' - Jon Pertwee.

    Any 2 Target novels

I'll nick Dave's idea of the Dalek Omnibus & also i'll have Dr.Who and the Cybermen.

Any 4 episodes of New Series Who (ie Rose onward)

I think I'll have "Fathers Day", "Dalek", "School Reunion" and "Doomsday". I've picked a couple of emotional ones, as I'm bound to get maudlin on my desert island. I'd also have picked "Boom Town" or "Love & Monsters" over "Dalek" but I'm thinking my island might be lonely and I might need to crack one off over Bruno Langley at some point.

Any 3 seasons of Classic Series Who

Can I have missing ones? Otherwise I think I'd probably pick Season 10 for some Pertwee, Season 20 of course (because it's great!) and Season 24 for McCoy for nostalgic reasons (and cos it's great).

Any 3 Big Finish CDs (or other *made for audio* related Who)

Ooh dear, a voice deep inside me just then said "3? That's easy, there's only 7 good ones anyway". Er... anyway, I'll choose "Spare Parts", "Master" and "Catch: 1782". But I'd miss "Chimes of Midnight". There, I did that without missing a beat.

Any 3 books (ie EDA, PDA, MA. NA or non-fiction)

Can I have an extra audio play if I go without any books?

    Any 2 Target novels

The thickest two (that would, bizarrely, include "Black Orchid") so I could use them to keep the desert island sun off my face.

    What would you choose?

Also my Desert Island Who Celebrity would be Frazer Hines, although when I got to my island I'd expect to find Courtney already there, like Man Friday, signing something at a little table. My Desert Island Doctor Who Fan would be Karen from Mastermind as she'd be able to ease my road to insanity if I got heatstroke and forgot which order Season 12 comes in, and my Desert Island Doctor Who Bit of Merchandise would be the TARDIS money box. '83 version, of course.

I shall take Father's Day, Boom Town, School Reunion and The Idiots Lantern.

Any 3 seasons of Classic Series Who
Tricky one this one. Season 18 for sure and Season 17 too and if it exisited in it's entirety I'd probably take season 4, but it doesn't so I'll go for Season 20... but only if you throw in The Five Doctors...

Any 3 Big Finish CDs (or other *made for audio* related Who)
I liked Dave Lewis's choice of the State of Decay tape... I'd like to have that please, along with Spare Parts and Seasons of Fear. I'll miss not having Zagreus though. Honestly I would!

Any 3 books (ie EDA, PDA, MA. NA or non-fiction)
I'll take The Cyberman Book, which is a bit of a favourite, Nightshade and The Romance of Crime please.

    Any 2 Target novels
2? How can I choose 2? Ok, The Web of Fear and Remembrance of the Daleks.

I'll be having a great time.

I don't agree, the narration was specifically "made for audio".

I'm horrified that Ant and Darren have never read any Targets... I've actually been re-reading An Unearthly Child just to check if it's as enjoyable and desert-island-worthy as I've postulated... and it is! I was going to mention the policeman from the beginning, and his hot, sweet tea and sausage sandwiches, which was a staple image of my childhood, and later, a staple diet of my early adulthood. Even though it would make my diet of coconut and sand a bit depressing, I'd still pick An Unearthly Child - it's great! I'm tempted by the mention of Doctor Who In An Exciting Adventure On Barnes Common, but I can never get over the "perhaps that's what we should call him... Doctor Who" bit. It's a wretched momentary oasis of horror in an otherwise splendid Whittaker rambling.

That threw me so much when I first read The Daleks. At that stage, I'd never seen Unearthly Child but had read a synopsis of it, and didn't understand why The Daleks started the way it did.
