Just like last season I'd of had you down as one of the promotion/play off favourites but unless you start picking up a few wins your in serious danger of this season turning into a relegation battle.

Rangers competed well enough to reach the UEFA Cup Final last season, as Celtic did a few years before.

That said, the knock-on effect of certain countries having four Champions League places is that their mid-table sides end up in the competition, which is a good thing if it makes it more open (not that many times that a European trophy is contested between a Russian team and a Scottish one) and if it gives a middling club the incentive of a shot at European glory, but not necessarily a good one if some of them aren't up to the job.

so Ramos, is sacked by Spurs - very suprised at how quickly this has been done but Harry, deserves his chance to manage a big club so good luck to him.

I think they will go down; and then Harry will promptly return to Fratton Park for a third time, coming out with the same old platitudes that he did when he came back from Southampton. Good old 'Arry.

Despite watching one of the most embarrassing displays by Charlton at Home to Sheff Utd today, despite being 1-3 down at half time, despite being 1-5 down inside an hour, despite leaving the match after a woeful 75 mins, I'm sat here with a smile on my face.

    Why?

Pardew has, at last, been sacked. YYYEEESSS!!!

Now let's get down to playing football. Bring back Curbs!

    - now that's funny - but if your happy with the kind of boring negative football Curbishley, inflicted on us in his two years at Upton Park then he's your man.

Curbs has a proven track record at The Valley and I don't believe for one minute that you would take relegation above a boring style if it meant safety.

Curbs is not the most positive of tacticians, but if he keeps us up and gets us to re-group in order to push on for promotion, the yes, he's the man for us.

The othet choice amongst the fans is Sam Allardyce, but I don't think we could afford him, let alone him moving down south to a club that is skint.

not a dig at you mate, but yet again it just shows how fickle football fans are I wonder how many of those Charlton, fans who were screaming for Curbishley's head not so long ago wish they still had the premiership mid table mediocrasy they enjoyed with him.

I agree. I was one of those that felt we were not going places under Curbishley, but we went backwards after he left. We are in a desperate situation, so if he comes back, I'll take plenty of cream over my humble pie.

Anyway, from what I have been reading today, he's all but ruled it out by saying that he only wants to return to the Premiership.

When Real Madrid won La Liga a couple of years ago - with Capello in charge, in what was Beckham's final year at the club - they played pretty much rubbish football all year. But they still won the title at the end of the season.

If anybody wants to make a comparative reference between this scenario and any team that may or may not be (yet absolutely are) top of the Premiership at this juncture, then I wholly agree. Liverpool are rubbish - and tonight has utterly proved that point - but nonetheless we are still one point clear of our nearest, wealthiest, competitors and I firmly believe three things:

    1. That we shall win the league this year

    2. That Robbie Keane will score five league goals during this campaign, God bless his overpaid, overpriced, overrated cotton socks

    3. Andrea Dossena's Premier league-winners medal will make Harry Kewell's Champions League-winners medal look like the hardest earned and most well deserved personal reward any footballer has ever received

    Any questions?*

*Other than those about the financial value and quality of Keane's socks?

I think you should give us a bit of credit mate west ham came to Anfield with a game plan and it worked you failed to break us down in what was an excelent defensive performance.

I would like to quote those immortal words as sang by Yazz back in the 80's.

True; and you could, and perhaps, should have won it. I've never seen such a dismal performance put a team on top of the table and credit to West Ham for what they brought to Anfield and what they went home with. But on paper - dreadful cliche; apologies - we were easily the better team and should have taken three points. If only we'd actually managed to translate that form onto the pitch itself. We were shit and deserved little; what upsets me more is that we should have won against Stoke, Tottenham and Fulham - if we had those extra seven points I might almost believe this is our year (even though I secretly do already).

will when you think that before the game we had only taken 5pts from the 8 games then on paper you should of won but it's because of this game and the dropped points against Fulham and Stoke that are once again have us doubting if Liverpool can be considered serious contenders for the title.

    PSV 1 - 3 Liverpool.

That second goal deserved the win. Liverpool finish top of their table.

    chelsea 1 West Ham 1,

delighted with the result but equaly frustrated that we can go to anfield and stamford bridge get a draw then inbetween produce such a woefull performance against spurs.

Just a heads up for everyone.

There's going to be a terrific comedy on TV tonight if you fancy watching. In fact it's a bit of a farce.

    It's called Charlton V Derby.

I'd be grateful if you would all refrain from pointing and laughing at me in the morning.

I only watched the first half and Charlton, played well though I don't know if that was down to how good charlton were or how effected Derby were by turning up late because they got stuck in a traffic jam in the Blackwall tunnell. Lets face it if you have to be some place by a certain time the blackwall tiunnell in rush hour is not the most sencible thing to use.

The Blackwall Tunnel was shut due to an accident, but that was no excuse for derby to use. They ended up using the Woolwich Ferry and getting a police escort to the ground.

Anyway, I can't believe we didn't win that game last night. D'urso robbed us by fantasising the 4 minutes of added on time when there should have been 2, 3 at the extreme outside. However, if the game runs to 95 minutes, you need to defend for 95 minutes and we didn't do that.

The positives from last night are a much improved performance and a point that lifted us from the bottom of the league.
