Do you suspect Gordon Brown will be greeting Team GB on their return as part of a quick PR gimmick?

    Is it all over then?
Yay! I got through the whole fortnight without seeing one single second of it.
All those years of practising dodging football on tv have paid off.

I'm with you 100% there Wayne, managed to avoid it completely! Now I'm gearing up to avoid 2012 too!

Bet you thought this thread was dead ...

But did anyone catch the Paraolympic Opening Ceremony on the TV - another great show, different but another great spectacle put on by China.

I was already planning to dig this thread up to post about all the great Paralympics action over the next week.

The Olympics are great, but you know can sometimes feel a little belittling. You see people do a super fast marathon run/swim/cycle, and in a way it puts you off ever doing sport because you feel so weak and useless when you try.

There's something special about the Paralympics (excuse the pun) - it reminds you that you have no excuse. You should give your all and try, and never hold back. It's inspiring for everyone in a different way to the Olympics - it's like a triumph of human will to succeed no matter what obstacle.

Four gold medals for GB on day one. Great stuff in the Velodrome and from Sascha Kindred in the pool.

Also nice to South Africa's Natalie du Toit claim gold in the S9 100m butterfly.
