The Father's Day Question
Here's something to speculate about:
The Reapers: are they actually the Chronovores by another name? For every fail, there is an equal and opposite win.
...Oh, who am I kidding?

They definitely are Chronovores.
Pity. I have no understanding of the word. It is not registered in my vocabulary bank. EXTERMINATE!

No or yes, who knows, there's only one way to find out!
FIGHT!

The Reapers were said to exist to 'repair' time anomalies (they "sterilise the wound"). They therefore appear in our Universe only when there is severe damage to time, and their strength depends on the severity of the timeline disruption. The Chronovores exist outside of time, but crucially once here do not seem limited by any such constraint; they can wreak havoc and "devour" time in a similar way a Boa Constrictor devours a rabbit - fur and all. So the Chronovores are creatures who exist 'between' our moments of being and who are devastating once unleashed; the Reapers appear only in times of emergency, and have a singular purpose - to obliterate those causing damage to the timeline and to restore order.

But then leeches heal wounds by eating the dead flesh. Perhaps the Reapers eat the 'dead flesh' of time?

Who were the Chronovores, something in The Time Monster? Kronos?
It's a shame the Reapers didn't take the form of giant budgies with white cloaks.

Chronovores were "time eaters", creatures that live outside of time, as seen in "The Time Monster". When unleashed into time, they can take any form from a big flapping white chicken to a member of Pan's People.

Perhaps the Chronovores were wiped out in the Time War, and the Reapers evolved to fill the ecological gap?

Maybe the reapers came from the gap between the now and the now.

I've just got my handcuffs and my truncheon and that's enough.

They can't be the same - Pertwee in The Time Monster clearly shows that a Chronovore is something to be scared of; whereas Blue Oyster Cult make a valid point when they say DON'T fear the Reapers.
